SINCE THE FIRST FESTIVAL DEBUTED IN 2006, IT HAS GROWN INTO A FIVE-DAY EVENT FEATURING OVER 130 UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL EVENTS TAKING PLACE ACROSS THE GREATER CHARLESTON AREA. FESTIVAL PROGRAMMING SHOWCASES THE STORIES, CULTURE, AND HISTORY OF CHARLESTON'S CUISINE, WATERWAYS, AND ITS PEOPLE THROUGH THE PRODUCTION OF A VARIETY OF EVENTS RANGING IN SIZE AND STYLE. IN THE SPIRIT OF COLLABORATION AND CONTINUED LEARNING FOR OUR LOCAL CULINARY + HOSPITALITY COMMUNITY, THE FESTIVAL COURTS TOP CHEFS, WINEMAKERS, AUTHORS, STORYTELLERS, ARTISANS, AND FOOD ENTHUSIASTS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE TO VISIT CHARLESTON AND PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT. AT THE CLOSE OF THIS YEAR'S 2023 FESTIVAL WE SAW THE LARGEST ATTENDANCE AND ECONOMIC IMPACT NUMBERS TO DATE. THE 2023 FESTIVAL WELCOMED OVER 38,000 PEOPLE AND GENERATED AN IMPACT FOR OUR REGION OF 32,982,121 IN JUST FIVE DAYS. APPROXIMATELY 57.3% OF ATTENDEES LIVE IN THE TRI-COUNTY AREA AND THE REMAINDER TRAVEL IN FROM OUT OF TOWN AND STAY ON AVERAGE 4.2 NIGHTS. IN ADDITION TO THE GUESTS WE SERVE, CHARLESTON WINE + FOOD IS A 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATION CREATED TO UPLIFT + SUPPORT THE CULINARY + HOSPITALITY COMMUNITY FOR WHICH IT SERVES BY ADAPTING WITH AND FOR OUR COMMUNITY.
