I would like to sincerely apologize on behalf of my organization for not having filed this return 990-EZ on time. We are a small organization of 15 to 20 medical graduate students. We had a transition in our organization leadership at the end of 2021 and I took on as one of the officers responsible for managing the treasury. I was unfortunately not aware that Form 990-EZ was one of the forms that our organization is required to file annually and thus failed to do so until I received a notice in the mail from the IRS this week. Thus I am now filing this return within 2 days of having received this notice. Again I would like to sincerely apologize for this mistake and we would also like to provide reassurance that this mistake will not be repeated in the future. We are putting a process in place to ensure that any new organization leadership is made aware through a "leadership transition document" of all required documents that need to be filed with the IRS. We will also be prompt in paying any associated late fees as applicable with this return.
