THE REGISTERED ASSOCIATION (NA) BOUNDARIES REPRESENT AT LEAST 20,748 HOUSEHOLDS OF THE ESTIMATED 39,450 RESIDENTIAL PARCELS IN ROCHESTER. IN SHORT, RNEIGHBORS PROVIDES RESOURCES FOR OVER HALF(52%) OF THE RESIDENCES IN ROCHESTER. IN ADDITION, RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE FOR NONREGISTERED NEIGHBORHOOD GROUPS SUCH AS THE MEADOW PARK INITIATIVE. RNEIGHBORS CONTINUES TO FACILITATE THE MAYOR'S COUNCIL OF NEIGHBORHOODS THAT CONSISTS OF REPRESENTATIVES FROM 15 DIFFERENT ASSOCIATIONS. THE MISSION OF THIS GROUP IS TO STRENGTHEN CONNECTIONS BETWEEN NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERS AND GIVE NEIGHBORHOODS A COLLECTIVE VOICE. IN 2022 THIS GROUP MET VIRTUALLY ONCE ON THE TOPIC OF RAPID TRANSIT PROJECT. OUR GOAL IN 2023 IS TO GET THIS GROUP BACK TO MEETING QUARTERLY. ONE ITEM WE HEARD REPEATEDLY FROM THE FOCUS GROUPS WAS THAT NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERS WANTED TIME TO JUST BE SOCIAL, LEARN FROM OTHERS IN THEIR POSITIONS AND GET TO KNOW THE RNEIGHBORS BOARD MEMBERS. ON NOVEMBER 16, 2022 WE HELD THE FIRST SOCIAL: CELEBRATE & CONNECT FOR ROCHESTER NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERS. THE GOAL WAS TO CELEBRATE THE POSITIVE EFFORTS GOING ON AROUND ROCHESTER NEIGHBORHOODS AND TO MAKE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN RNEIGHBORS AND THESE LEADERS. 33 PEOPLE ATTENDED FROM 9 DIFFERENT NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATIONS AND PARTICIPATED IN ENERGIZING CONVERSATIONS WITH COLLABORATIVE ENERGY. THIS IS AN EVENT THAT RNEIGHBORS WILL CONTINUE HOLDING IN 2023. |

THESE GRANTS REIMBURSE UP TO 2,000 IN COSTS FOR NEIGHBORHOODS TO COMPLETE PROJECTS THAT ENHANCE A NEIGHBORHOOD'S LIVABILITY AND INVOVLEMENT, BENEFIT THE ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD AND PROMOTE A STRONG SENSE OF COMMUNITY. IN 2022, FOUR DIFFERENT NEIGHBORHOOD PROJECT GRANTS WERE AWARDED, TOTALING OVER 5,600. |

STARTED IN 2007, THIS CITY-WIDE LITTER CLEANUP PROGRAM IS COMPLETED DURING WEEK ONE IN APRIL. LBB ENJOYS PARTICIPATION ACROSS MANY SECTORS IN THE COMMUNITY INCLUDING SCHOOLS, SERVICE AND FAITH GROUPS, SCOUT TROOPS, BUSINESSES AND OF COURSE, ROCHESTER NEIGHBORHOODS. PARTICIPANTS IN THE EVENT BUILD COMMUNITY TIES AND REINFORCE A STRONG SENSE OF COMMUNITY PRIDE. 2022 WAS THE 15TH ANNUAL LITTER BIT BETTER EVENT AND 16,840 LBS. OF TRASH WERE COLLECTED AT 264 COLLECTION SITES BY 2,250 VOLUNTEERS. |

THIS PROGRAM PAUSED IN 2021 AND STARTED AGAIN IN 2022 WHEN LOWERTOWN REPAINTED THEIR STREET MURAL. PARTNERS IN THIS PROGRAM INCLUDE THE CITY OF ROCHESTER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AND STRUVE'S PAINT. RNEIGHBORWOODS: RNEIGHBORWOODS EMPOWERS AND EDUCATES THE COMMUNITY TO GROW A SUSTAINABLE URBAN FOREST, BENEFITING THE HEALTH, SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC ASPECTS OF ROCHESTER NEIGHBORHOODS. RNEIGHBORS RECOGNIZES ACTIVE CITIZENS AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE MORE LIKELY TO THRIVE IN A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT. IN 2022, THIS PARTNERSHIP PLANTED 324 BOULEVARD TREES WITH THE HELP OF 245 VOLUNTEERS, EQUALING 735 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER TIME. CHALK THE BLOCK (EST. 2020): RNEIGHBORS, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE SOUTHEASTERN MINNESOTA POETS AND THE CITY OF ROCHESTER ORGANIZED THE SECOND CHALK THE BLOCK FESTIVAL ON JULY 24,2022. THE GOAL OF THIS EVENT WAS FOR CITIZENS TO CONNECT ACROSS ROCHESTER AND EXPRESS THEMSELVES THROUGH CREATING POETRY AND SIDEWALK CHALK MURALS WITH THE THEME OF CREATING MEMORABLE CONNECTIONS. 1,500 CHALK BAGS WERE DISTRIBUTED ACROSS THE COMMUNITY. THREE PROFESSIONAL CHALK ARTISTS WERE INVOLVED IN THE EVENT AND PAIRED WITH THREE LOCAL POETS TO ENCOURAGE DEEPER ENGAGEMENT AND GIVE CHALK SITES FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO SEEK OUT. ALTHOUGH COMMUNITY EVENT PARTICIPATION IS TOUGH TO GAUGE, THE FEEDBACK WE RECEIVED WHEN HANDING OUT CHALK WAS PEOPLE ARE CRAVING POSITIVE SOCIAL CONNECTIONS. |
