Grassroots Advocacy: Our mission is to elevate the patient voice with policy makers, so perhaps nothing is more important than the work we do to empower our members. This includes on-line advocacy tools, advertising to encourage action, and additional outreach to our members.

State Advocacy: Much of health care is regulated at the state level, especially insurance coverage. As a result, DPC has a robust program to engage with state policy makers, including state insurance commissioners and state legislators.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15a In executive session, the Board of Directors reviews and establishes the Chief Executive Officer's compensation level. The Board looks closely to Guidestar's annual compensation report, which pulls directly from IRS data, to ensure its decision making is consistent with current non-profit remuneration practices. It also reviews the salaries paid to CEO's of other kidney patient organizations to further ensure its decisions reflect the current trends in the kidney community. The Chief Executive Officer is not involved in decisions with respect to his own compensation and leaves the room while the Board of Directors discuss and vote on matters related to his compensation. Minutes of the compensation discussion are taken and reflect the contemporaneous substantiation of the deliberation and decision.
