The total amounts of interest and penalities recognized in the Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Assets and the total amounts of interest and penalities recognized in the Statements of Revenues, Expenses, and Changes in Net Assets are $0. Financial Accounting Standards Codification (ASC)740-10-25-6 requires management to evaluate tax positions taken and recognize a tax liability (or asset) if the Union has taken an uncertain tax position that, more likely than not, would be sustained upon examination by federal and state taxing authorities. Management has analyzed the tax positions taken and has concluded that as of June 30, 2023, and 2022, there are no uncertain tax positions taken or expected to be taken that would require recognition of a liability (or asset) or disclosure in the financial statements. The Union is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress. The Union has never had unrelated business income tax (UBIT), nor has it filed the Form 990-T. Therefore, All tax years are open for examination by federal and state taxing authorities related to UBIT.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6	We have members; upon being hired at Liberty Steel and Wire Co., employees are automatically signed up for the Union.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7a	The governing board of the Union is elected as follows: at the Annual Meeting held in March, nominations are held to see which members would like to run for an elected office. On the second Tuesday in April, the election is held to see which candidate is elected to the governing board.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7b	Any decisions of the governing body have to be put to a vote by the General Committee.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b	Union members may review the completed tax forms by going to the Secretary-Treasurer's office and requesting to see the documents. The Union's By-Laws state that financial reports are available for review but can't be copied or taken out of the hall. The 990 is reviewed by the Secretary-Treasurer and the Wage and Rules Committee before being sent in. The 990 is sent to the Union's accountant for a final review and approval before submission.

The Secretary-Treasurer will then investigate the situation and take any and all necessary steps to resolve the conflict of interest.
