THE PORTAL SERVES AS A FREE, CENTRALIZED, WEB-BASED SEARCH ENGINE AND RECORD-FINDING TOOL THAT ALLOWS RESEARCHERS, TEACHERS, STUDENTS, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO LOCATE OR ACCESS OVER 100,000 MAPS, PHOTOS, LETTERS, AND OTHER ARCHIVAL MATERIALS HELD AT CCC'S MEMBER INSTITUTIONS. AT THIS TIME, CHICAGO COLLECTIONS HAS 60 UNIQUE MEMBERS WITH DIVERSE ARCHIVAL COLLECTIONS. 2022 SAW THE LAUNCH OF CCC'S 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND THE BEGINNING OF A POETRY CONTEST FOR CHICAGOLAND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, HELD IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CCC MEMBERS' CHICAGO PUBLIC LIBRARY AND THE POETRY FOUNDATION. THE COMPETITION WAS HELD FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THE SPRING OF 2023. STUDENTS WERE ASKED TO BE INSPIRED BY AN IMAGE ON CCC'S EXPLORE PORTAL AND WRITE A POEM. 55 SUBMISSIONS WERE RECEIVED FROM 10 CHICAGOLAND HIGH SCHOOLS, WILLIAM HOWARD TAFT HIGH SCHOOL, AIR FORCE ACADEMY HIGH SCHOOL, THE CHICAGO HIGH SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS, EVERGREEN PARK COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL, WILLIAM FREMD HIGH SCHOOL, GRAYSLAKE NORTH HIGH SCHOOL, KENWOOD ACADEMY HIGH SCHOOL, HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOOR COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL, JONES COLLEGE PREP, AND PHILLIPS EXETER ACADEMY. 6 STUDENTS WERE RECOGNIZED WITH A CERTIFICATE AND MONETARY AWARD. TEN FREE PUBLIC PROGRAMS, AUTHOR'S TALK: TOYA WOLFE, CHICAGO MURALS: A DISCUSSION WITH ARTISTS MEG DUGUID AND BERNARD WILLIAMS, A PANEL WITH CHICAGO'S NEW LIBRARY DIRECTORS, A CONVERSATION WITH LIBRARY OF CONGRESS LIBRARIAN DR. CARLA HAYDEN, AUTHOR'S TALK: MELANIE D. NEWPORT, A DISCUSSION WITH GERBER/HART LIBRARIAN AND ARCHIVIST ERIN BELL, CALL AND RESPONSE: LAWRENCE STEGER'S ARCHIVES AND LASTING LEGACY, CONVERSATIONS WITH CHICAGO COLLECTIONS: FRANCES WILLARD HOUSE MUSEUM AND ARCHIVES, AND PUBLIC RECORDS IN CHICAGO: ACQUISITION AND ACCESSIBILITY WERE OFFERED VIRTUALLY AND IN PERSON AT A MEMBER INSTITUTION FURTHERING THE PROMOTION OF CHICAGO'S RICH HISTORY ON DIVERSE HISTORICAL TOPICS. THREE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS WERE PROVIDED DURING THE YEAR TO CCC MEMBERS WHICH INCLUDED A CCC METADATA HOPPER WORKSHOP (STEPS TO UPLOAD INFORMATION TO EXPLORE CHICAGO COLLECTIONS), DESIGNING, DEVELOPING, AND DELIVERING A DIGITAL EXHIBIT WHICH WAS HOSTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CHICAGO AREA ARCHIVES, AND CONTROLLED VOCABULARY TASK FORCE DISCUSSION - PERSPECTIVES ON CRITICAL CATALOGING. THESE PROGRAMS WERE WELL-RECEIVED AND SUPPORTED CCC'S EFFORTS OF PROMOTING ACCESSIBILITY TO ARCHIVAL COLLECTIONS. PARTNERSHIPS CCC ALSO PARTNERED WITH ART DESIGN CHICAGO NOW, CHICAGO AREA ARCHIVISTS, CAXTON CLUB, MY BLOCK MY HOOD MY CITY, BLACK METROPOLIS RESEARCH CONSORTIUM, AND BUILDING A NATIONAL ARCHIVAL FINDING AID NETWORK ON FREE PUBLIC PROGRAMS. CCC IS PROUD TO PARTICIPATE IN THE NATIONAL FINDING AID NETWORK PROJECT, WHOSE EFFORTS ARE FOCUSED TOWARD ESTABLISHING A FINDING AID NETWORK. UNIQUE PARTNERSHIPS WITH THESE ORGANIZATIONS HAVE DEMONSTRATED THAT BY WORKING TOGETHER,GREATER IMPACT AND SUCCESSFUL RESULTS ARE POSSIBLE. MEMBERSHIP THE ADDITION OF 4 NEW MEMBERS (OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK CITY OF CHICAGO, GERBER HART LIBRARY AND ARCHIVES, THE PAUL AND JEAN HARRIS HOME FOUNDATION, AND JAPANESE AMERICAN SERVICE COMMITTEE)TO THE CCC IS AN EXAMPLE OF THE VARIETY OF ORGANIZATIONS BOUND TOGETHER FOR THE PROMOTION OF AND SHARING OF CHICAGO'S HISTORY AND CULTURE. ORGANIZATIONAL AWARENESS CCC WAS REPRESENTED AT VARIOUS PROMOTIONAL INITIATIVES. THESE EVENTS INCLUDED A PRESENTATION AT THE GENEALOGY CLUB MEETING OF THE FOUNTAINDALE PUBLIC LIBRARY ON HOW TO FIND CONTENT IN EXPLORE, AND A BLOG POST LISTED FOR THE SOCIETY OF THE AMERICAN ARCHIVIST ON CREATING A COMMUNITY-CENTRIC CONTROLLED VOCABULARY WRITTEN BY GRETCHEN NEIDHARDT AND KATE FLYNN. CCC'S EFFORTS IN GROWING AUDIENCES THROUGH ITS SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS CONTINUED. FUNDRAISING EFFORTS THE GENEROUS FUNDING FROM ILLINOIS HUMANITIES, ILLINOIS ARTS COUNCIL AGENCY, GAYLORD AND DOROTHY DONNELLEY FOUNDATION, DRIEHAUS FOUNDATION, MACARTHUR FOUNDATION, TERRA FOUNDATION FOR AMERICAN ART PROVIDED IMPORTANT ASSISTANCE.
