What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? OREGON SECTION INSTITUTE OF FOOD TECHNOLOGISTS is an affiliated regional section of the larger organization the Institute of Food Technologists. Since 1939, the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) has been a forum for science of food professionals and technologists to collaborate, learn, and contribute all with the goal of inspiring and transforming collective scientific knowledge into innovative solutions for the benefit of all. The mission of IFT is to connect global food system communities to promote and advance the science of food and its application.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 During the 2022-2023 fiscal year, the Oregon Section Institute of Food Technologists (OSIFT) held 22 events for members and non-members within the state of Oregon. Events included 9 virtual and in-person board meetings, 5 in-person dinner meetings with speakers from the food science industry, academia, and regulatory sectors, 1 summer planning meeting, and 4 new professional events. OSIFT awarded $20,000 in scholarships to Undergraduate and Post-Graduate students in the Food Science and Technology Department at Oregon State University, and donated an additional $7600 in charitable contributions including the Oregon State University Food Tech club, reimbursements for student IFT memberships fees, the Oregon Food Bank, and The Oregon Entrepreneurs Network.
