What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? We serve to support chemistry professionals, students, the general public interested in chemistry by providing programming and scholarships.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 Donations. In 2022, our organization hosted a very large regional meeting (https://marm2022.tcnj.edu/) which brought in over 800 chemistry professionals and students from all over the mid-Atlantic region. The revenue and expenses were reported in our 2022 990 form. In 2023, we donated the remainder of the revenue from our 2022 MARM program to the chemistry departments of four local colleges ($76,283) to be used toward student-centered activities/purchases, as well as other local and regional chemistry organizations ($24,511). These donations directly impact hundreds, if not thousands, of local aspiring chemists, and chemistry professionals in the mid-Atlantic region.

29 Scholarships & Awards. We provide both renewable and non-renewable scholarships to high school students in Mercer & Hunterdon Counties (not including Princeton), as well as awards for outstanding chemistry majors at the local four-year and community colleges. This year we awarded scholarships to 10 students ($12,300). We also give an award to the "best chemistry teacher" in these areas ($300). These scholarships and awards were determined by an extensive nomination process. We also provide awards to the college chemistry societies ($200) which likely serves 25-50 college students.

30 Professional Development in Community Leadership. In 2023, we reimbursed two board members for their travel and registration costs to attend professional chemistry meetings throughout the year ($4,442). While this directly impacts two board members, the skills and knowledge these meetings imparted are far reaching to both our society and thus the greater community.

US National Chemistry Olympiad Competition. First we run a virtual mentorship program for high school students across the country ($840), which engages approximately 100 high school students. Then we run the actual competition for both the Trenton & Princeton Sections of the ACS. This engages about 12 teachers and 200 high school students across Mercer & Hunterdon Counties, and encourages students to pursue and be challenged by chemistry ($604).
