1	Briefly describe the organization’s mission or most significant activities: The Nevada Sheriffs' & Chiefs' Association was formed as a professional social nonprofit Association dedicated to the cooperation and understanding of law enforcement agencies in the State of Nevada. The Association was formed to encourage fellowship between law enforcement agencies through charitable and educational interests and training as well as compassionate and equitable public service for public safety in Nevada. A minimum of 4 meetings are held annually in order to facilitate the memberships' shared principles of continued learning sharing and cooperation amongst the general membership. Additionally annually NvSCA co-hosts a training conference for law enforcement professionals that includes exhibitors and sponsors that provide information on equipment trends items and materials that can benefit the law enforcement communities.

Briefly describe the organization’s mission: The Nevada Sheriffs' & Chiefs' Association was formed as a professional social nonprofit Association dedicated to the cooperation and understanding of law enforcement agencies in the State of Nevada. The Association was formed to encourage fellowship between law enforcement agencies through charitable and educational interests and training as well as compassionate and equitable public service for public safety in Nevada. A minimum of 4 meetings are held annually in order to facilitate the memberships' shared principles of continued learning sharing and cooperation amongst the general membership.

	October 2023 NvSCA held its 4th meeting of the year which coincided with the annual training event that is co-hosted with the FBINAA NV Chapter. The meetings included the general business meeting which had the on going presentations by Department of Public Safety highlighting the modernization of the NCJIS statewide communication system; members presented information on the on going collaboration for Medication Addition Treatment MAT in facilities and detention centers as well as on going mental health and wellness not only related to the community but first responders as well. The training conference was a two day event that was offered to not only statewide but outside Nevada law enforcement agencies. Training presntations included best practices and movement forward after the school shooting in Florida and how agencies can learn from that situation in addition to two speakers on officer wellness and first responders and their agencies being able to adjust help first responders not only recover but maintain mental health and resiliency; and a speaker did a presentation on the legal issues related to body cameras civilian videos related to critical and everyday issues as well as the duty to intervene. Post presentation evaluations provided by attendees indicated that all presentations were well thought of.

	NvSCA had three meetings that were not in conjunction with the annual training conference in October. These other meetings were held in February May and July of 2023 in the locations of Carson City South Lake Tahoe and Ely Nevada. These meetings support and provide for the means to uphold the mission and goals of the association through on going training collaboration and sharing of expertise in certain matters related to law enforcement in NV. Topics included a presentation with question and answer period by WAshoe County Crime lab on Family DNA testsing Rapid DNA testing NIBRS input; Dept of Public Safety presentation questions and answers on the mandatory reporting of use of force by agencies and this presentation allowed for the sharing of information since some of the agencies were unaware of the requirement but also discussion due to some agencies not collecting the required reporting data; on going sharing by DPS on the modernization of the central repository NCJIS communication system,; which impacts all agencies in the state so the sharing by executives and hands on staff is vital to insure the modernization moves along timely; on going communication and sharing by the NvSCA representative on the Sentencing commission and this commission has an impact on the potential for legislative action on sentencing and crimes; on going sharing and communication on the opioid settlement issues SURGE and those communities that continue to have issues which then leads to the on going communication related to detention facilities working to obtain and retain services for medication addition treatment MAT. All these meetings also included a time for the members to meet and greet in order to share best practices on situations currently being faced by L E in Nevada. Training at the Ely meeting included an indepth presentation by some of the legislative liaison representatives on statutory amendments and newly enacted laws and how they impacted law enforcement moving forward.

	Calendar year 2023 was a legislative year in Nevada which resulted in NvSCA hiring a parttime lobbyist to review interact and maintain actions that were occurring at the legislative session that could have an impact on law enforcement in Nevada. The lobbyist worked with other Law enforcement agency representatives on bill draft requests monitoring of session hearings and at time provided testimony before subcommittees. Additionally NvSCA co-sponsored a legislative reception so that members of the association could meet and greet and have discussions with NV Legislators prior to the commencement of the legislative session for 2023.
