The organization's purpose is to hold the assets of the Staplcotn Medical Plan a self-insured plan which provides healthcare benefits to eligible employees of Staple Cotton Cooperative Association and Staple Cotton Discount Corporation and their eligible dependents. At December 31 2023 there were 310 persons insured under the plan. Claims paid on behalf of participants totaled $1,928,229. Reinsurance premiums of $345,244; claims administrative expense of $88,605; accounting fees of $15,000; and bank fees of $1,753 were paid in 2023. Insurance premiums of $1,500,241 were collected from Staple Cotton Cooperative Association Staple Cotton Discount Corporation and participants in the plan. Proceeds received from a reinsurance policy totaled $67,737. The Trust's interest bearing sweep account certificates of deposit and short term U.S. Treasuries earned interest income of $64,455.
