What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? Cherrywood Lumberman's Association was organized in 1994 to provide and alternative structure to hardwood lumber manufactures in Pennsylvania and neighboring states for coverage of Worker's Compensation to all of their employees. Lumber manufacturing, especially for sawmills, is one of the highest rates due to the nature of the work. The organization focus is not only on lower premium but also safety issues.

28 Safety inspection of all manufacturing enterprises is conducted at least once a year and is accompanied by the mill manager. Each time an inspection is completed by a professional the manufacturer receives a letter listing all of the findings. The mill manager is required to respond when and how the corrections are made with accompanying photos. The goal is to assist each mill in reducing the odds of any accident to their employees. 29 Annually awards are presented to each company based upon their safety record. Every employee at all manufacturing enterprises is presented a safety award. The highest award is presented to the manfacturing enterprises that have zero lost time by their employees, a perfect safety record. 30 In the event of an accident Cherrywood utilizes professionals to supervise the recovery of any employee for the manufacturing enterprise to guarantee the receive the best possible care. A professional case worker may be assigned to an injured worker depending upon the severity of the injury. The goal is to provide the employee with the best possible care so that the employee can return to work. Light duty work is made available by the manufacturing entity if possible for the injured employee until the medical professional releases the employee for full duty work.
