Potential applicants may learn about and apply for funding through the Machias Savings Bank website, at: https://www.machiassavings.bank/guidelines.aspx Applicants will be asked to describe their organization and why they are deserving of funding. The Foundation will prioritize projects that benefit low-to-moderate income households. Grant funds will be awarded to projects or services that: create or retain jobs, revitalize communities within our service area, help to provide affordable housing, or other programs designed to assist low-to-moderate income households. The applicant must demonstrate the ability to carry out the objectives cited in the grant application. Applicants will need to include a project narrative; a grant budget; a letter of support; and a copy of their 501(c)(3) exemption letter with their application.
cAny submission deadlines:
The deadline for applications is May 17th. Grant recipients will be selected by June 14th.
dAny restrictions or limitations on awards, such as by geographical areas, charitable fields, kinds of institutions, or other
factors:
The Foundation only makes grants to qualified 501(c)(3) organizations. A nonprofit may apply for a donation from the Machias Savings Bank and still be eligible for a grant from the Foundation. Awards are generally limited to organizations operating in the service areas of Machias Savings Bank. The Foundation does not award donations to religious or political organizations, unless the programming is for food insecurity or to advance financial health. The Foundation also does not award donations to individuals; parties or events; athletic or travel sponsorships; research or publication; construction or improvement of parks and playgrounds; and any other project that does not meet the Foundation's goals and values for community development.
