What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? The primary exempt purpose of the Seabrook Island Natural History Group (SINHG) is to disseminate natural history and cultural history information about Charleston and the Low Country to its members through field trips and lectures. In addition, the Group provides the opportunity for members to informally share their experiences through special events. The group encourages education in their Johns Island community by providing grants to organizations focusing on education, the environment and local history.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 The Seabrook Island Natural History Group's post COVID offerings to its members has stabilized to an average of 70 or more excursions. The trips are chosen and organized to enhance members knowledge and experiences in the environmental, historical and cultural heritage of the area. The Organization also encourages education in the Johns Island community by funding local scholarship, environmental projects and other activities aligned with the Organization's purpose. In FY 2023 70 trips were taken by approximately 451 member attendees.
