Explanation:
I am the new president of the Aiken (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. I received notice that our 2021 tax year filing was rejected by the IRS on September 22, 2024, via a mailed notice (0422866042). I was operating under the assumption that we completed the 990-EZ for the 2021tax year prior to the September 15, 2022, deadline instated by The Links, Incorporated bylaws and the Internal Revenue Service Deadlines since there is documented evidence that the 990-EZ was uploaded to The Links, Incorporated accounting system and the SC Department of State Public Charities Division website. I can provide photo evidence that we submitted the 990 EZ form to the South Carolina Secretary of State Public Charities Division and to The Links, Incorporated on 9/14/2022 and 9/15/2022 respectively. Our previous president could not produce documented evidence that the 990-EZ was accepted by the IRS through an e-filing service, though she was able to find a screenshot where she began the submission on ExpressTaxExempt.com. She believes she started the E-file, but after a discussion with our regional secretary that she mailed the form as she always had and had assumed it had been accepted since she did not receive a notice of rejection. On 9/23/24 I spoke with Mr. Stillwell (1004624677), a helpful agent at TAS that instructed me to provide an explanation for late filing and to e-file the forms as soon as possible to avoid penalty. To rectify the missing submission, I am electronically filing the April 30, 2021 tax year 990-EZ today (9/24/2024).
