| Part III response or note to any other line in Part III | Organizations Primary Exempt Purpose-Music Portlands mission is to improve business conditions for all participants in the music industry in the Portland, Oregon metro area, including musicians, music producers, music manufacturers, record labels, music distribution companies, music marketers, music venues, musicians, and music fans. Line 28-Statement of Program Service Accomplishments-In 2023, MusicPortland launched a Performer Directory for members, offering a streamlined resource for booking talent at non-venue paid events like street fairs, private company functions, and business district celebrations-creating new income streams for local performers and bands. We also published 20 newsletters and special reports, sharing valuable resources such as grant opportunities for popular music genres, job openings, networking events, and policy updates. With an impressive open rate of over 70%, we ensure the music community stays informed on vital opportunities they might otherwise miss. Our government relations arm, the Music Policy Council, drafted multiple policy recommendations for city leaders, addressing gaps that harm the music sector, particularly the BIPOC community.MusicPortland hosted monthly industry-wide gatherings, offering professional development and networking opportunities for musicians and music businesses. A Music Venue Summit identified key challenges facing local venues, while focus groups in Bend, Sisters, and Redmond explored issues for other music communities across the state. Zoom sessions continue these conversations, and we initiated monthly sector-specific gatherings for studio production professionals.Additionally, we expanded member benefits to include legal office hours, sessions with a CPA specializing in music entrepreneurs, discounted services, and inclusion in both our Business and Performer Directory. |
