| Form 990, Part III, Line 4d | OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: CAPS (CAPS ART PROMOTES SMILES) (1998)The CAPS program provides uniquely decorated ball caps to chronically ill children and adults. Knitted and crocheted hats are also made and provided to patients where needed.In 2023-2024, 2,037 patients at 6 hospitals/centers were provided caps. 25 members contributed 3,311 hours in support of this program. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (2004)The Scholarship program awards scholarships to qualified students attending colleges and universities in Bexar County. In 2023-2024, this program awarded 12 scholarships. Fourteen member volunteers contributed 247 hours in support of this program. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: ADOPT A RESIDENT (2004)The Adopt A Resident program serves senior adults at a local senior care facility through companionship, friendship and by providing personal care items. This program is on hold as of August 31, 2023, until further notice. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: ENHANCED LEARNING AWARDS (2014)The Enhanced Learning Awards program is a grant-like program designed to provide funds to Title I schools for impactful, educational enrichment programs providing students an opportunity to experience an environment they might not otherwise encounter. Schools compete for awards between $5,000 and $25,000. Schools are required to complete pre- and post-assessments to measure student learning and are required to provide documented reports from the participants. In 2023-2024, three schools representing three different school districts received grants for programs that impacted 966 students. Eight members contributed 448 hours to this program. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 8: BEXAR HUGS PROGRAMSAlamo Bears The Alamo Bear's Program of the Bexar Hugs Auxiliary provides stuffed bears to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. They are passed out to children in need of comfort due to family issues. The budget for the bears was $1,850.00, but we did not spend any money this year. In 2023-2024 we did give out bears. 264 children were impacted by this program, and member volunteers contributed 5 hours in support of this program. Alamo Totes The ALamo Totes contain items that are gender and age appropriate, such as blankets, toys, books, and hygiene products. The recipient's range in age from 5 to young teens. We obtain the tote bags from the "My Stuff Bags organization. We provided these tote bags to ChildSafe (150 bags), Haven for Hope (0 bags) and SAMMinistries shelters (176 bags). The budget for the program was $1,325.00 but we spent $1,075.00 which covers the shipping from "My Stuff Bags." In 2023-2024, 326 children and their families were impacted by this program. 7 member volunteers contributed 72 hours in support of this program. |
