Math Readiness Initiative Evaluation Form 990-PF, Part VIII-A The Math Readiness Initiative, (known to partners as Nebraska Math Readiness Project (NMRP), is a state-wide pilot program launched to ensure students are ready for college-level math. This initiative currently includes four Nebraska community colleges (Metropolitan Community College, Central Community College, Western Nebraska Community College, and Northeast Community College) working collectively with 81 high schools across 69 school districts in the state. The program, which was initially approved for a three-year grant in March 2018 (and a one-year extension in December 2020), received approval for a 3-year grant in December 2021 to fund 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25. Individual 3-year grants were made to the participating community colleges to support the programmatic work in their respective regions and to continue to grow the footprint of the program. The initiative first included up to $300,000 to hire an evaluator co-selected by the Foundation and community college grantees to measure impact on student success and help the college partners improve program design and delivery. A second evaluation proposal of up to $170,000 was approved December 2021 to extend the evaluation by 36 months (September 15, 2022 - September 15, 2025). The evaluation of the Nebraska Math Readiness Initiative contributes to the goals of the College Access and Success portfolio by measuring the impact of the state-wide initiative towards improving high school students' math readiness and its correlation to improved student outcomes at the post-secondary level. The program results to date indicate improved student outcomes at both the high school and postsecondary level and the participating community colleges continue to scale this intervention with the addition of high school partners across the state.
Submission Deadlines Form 990-PF, Part XIV, Line 2c The Foundation accepts grant applications on a rolling basis. All grants are approved by the Foundation's Board of Trustees during their board meetings. Decisions on funding requests are made 3 times a year: March, June, and October. Requests will be brought to trustees after staff has had time to review the proposal and conduct due diligence.
