ORGANIZATIONS MEMBERS - PART VI, QUESTION 6 INDIVIDUALS WHO QUALIFY FOR MEMBERSHIP BECOME ONE OF THREE TYPES OF MEMBERS - BENEFIT, ASSOCIATE, OR YOUTH - DEPENDING ON AGE AND PRODUCT OWNERSHIP. PEOPLE WHO APPLY FOR AND ARE ELIGIBLE FOR MEMBERSHIP ARE OFFICIALLY ADMITTED AS MEMBERS OF THRIVENT BY BEING ELECTED INTO MEMBERSHIP BY A LOCAL THRIVENT MEMBER NETWORK (TMN) LODGE. THIS IS DONE AT MEETINGS BY A VOTE OF THE MEMBERS WHO LEAD THE LODGE. *BENEFIT MEMBER: AN INDIVIDUAL AGE 16 OR OLDER WHO HAS APPLIED FOR AND BEEN ACCEPTED FOR MEMBERSHIP IN ACCORDANCE WITH OUR MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY RULES AND WHO HAS A QUALIFIED CONNECTION TO AN INSURANCE OR ANNUITY PRODUCT OF THRIVENT FINANCIAL FOR LUTHERANS OR RECEIVED A SETTLEMENT FROM SUCH INSURANCE. BENEFIT MEMBERS MAY PARTICIPATE IN THE AFFAIRS AND ACTIVITIES OF THE LOCAL LODGE IN WHICH THEY ARE MEMBERS AND MAY HOLD OFFICE THEREIN. BENEFIT MEMBERS SHALL ALSO HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE IN THE CORPORATE AND INSURANCE AFFAIRS OF THRIVENT. *ASSOCIATE MEMBER: AN ASSOCIATE MEMBER IS AN INDIVIDUAL AGE 16 OR OLDER WHO HAS APPLIED FOR AND BEEN ACCEPTED FOR MEMBERSHIP AND IS ISSUED A CERTIFICATE OF MEMBERSHIP. THESE ARE MEMBERS WHO DO NOT HAVE A QUALIFIED CONNECTION TO AN INSURANCE OR ANNUITY PRODUCT FROM THRIVENT FINANCIAL FOR LUTHERANS. ASSOCIATE MEMBERS MAY PARTICIPATE IN THE AFFAIRS AND ACTIVITIES OF THE LOCAL LODGE IN WHICH THEY ARE MEMBERS, AND MAY HOLD OFFICE THEREIN, BUT SHALL NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE IN THE CORPORATE AND INSURANCE AFFAIRS OF THRIVENT. *YOUTH MEMBER: A YOUTH MEMBER IS AN INDIVIDUAL AGE 15 OR YOUNGER WHO HAS BEEN ACCEPTED FOR MEMBERSHIP AND WHO IS ISSUED A CERTIFICATE OF MEMBERSHIP OR A CERTIFICATE OF MEMBERSHIP AND INSURANCE. AT AGE 16, MEMBERSHIP TRANSITIONS TO THE APPROPRIATE MEMBERSHIP CLASSIFICATION (BENEFIT OR ASSOCIATE). IF THE INDIVIDUAL HAS A QUALIFIED CONNECTION TO A THRIVENT FINANCIAL FOR LUTHERANS INSURANCE OR ANNUITY PRODUCT, HE OR SHE WILL BECOME A BENEFIT MEMBER AT AGE 16. OTHERWISE, THE PERSON WILL BECOME AN ASSOCIATE MEMBER. YOUTH MEMBERS MAY PARTICIPATE IN THE AVAILABLE AFFAIRS AND ACTIVITIES OF THE LOCAL LODGE IN WHICH THEY ARE MEMBERS BUT SHALL NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO HOLD OFFICE OR VOTE IN THE LOCAL LODGE AFFAIRS OR VOTE IN THE CORPORATE AND INSURANCE AFFAIRS OF THRIVENT.
DO THE MEMBERS ELECT THE GOVERNING BODY? - PART VI, QUESTION 7A BENEFIT AND ASSOCIATE MEMBERS OF THE ORGANIZATION ANNUALLY ELECT MEMBERS OF THE GOVERNING BODY.
FORM 990 REVIEW - PART VI, QUESTION 11 PRIOR TO THE FILING OF FORM 990, SELECTED TAX PERSONNEL AND MANAGEMENT OF THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDE A DETAILED OVERVIEW OF THE FORM AND ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS RAISED.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY - PART VI, QUESTION 12C THE PREDOMINANT ASPECT OF THE CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY FOR BRANCHES IS THAT MEMBERS WITH CERTAIN CONFLICTS OF INTEREST ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO SERVE IN OFFICER OR BOARD ROLES FOR BRANCHES. WHILE THERE IS NOT AN AUDIT PROCESS TO CHECK EVERY ELECTED LEADER UNDER THE POLICY, PARENT SOCIETY STAFF CONTINUOUSLY MONITOR FOR PROHIBITED CONFLICTS UNDER THIS POLICY AS THEY DO THEIR REGULAR WORK. THE POLICY IS CONSISTENTLY ENFORCED BY REMOVING PERSONS WHO ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO HOLD OFFICE WHEN THE CONFLICTS ARE DISCOVERED. THE PARENT SOCIETY ALSO ANNUALLY REMINDS THE LEADERS OF LOCAL BRANCHES OF THE POLICY WHEN PROVIDING INFORMATION ABOUT CONDUCTING THEIR ELECTIONS.
COMPENSATION - PART VI, QUESTION 15 NO COMPENSATION IS PAID. ALL INDIVIDUALS ARE VOLUNTEERS.
DISCLOSURE POLICY - PART VI, QUESTION 19 SOME BRANCHES PRESENT FINANCIAL INFORMATION AT MEMBER MEETINGS AND PEOPLE CAN REQUEST A COPY OF THE GROUP 990.
NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS - PART I, LINE 6 THRIVENT FINANCIAL FOR LUTHERANS IS A FRATERNAL BENEFIT SOCIETY WITH APPROXIMATELY 2.1 MILLION MEMBERS AND LOCAL LODGES LOCATED THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES. WE HAVE A PROCESS TO ESTIMATE BOTH THE NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS AND THE NUMBER OF VOLUNTEER HOURS FOR EACH YEAR. FOR 2023, WE ESTIMATE THE NUMBER OF INDIVIDUALS WHO PROVIDED VOLUNTEER SERVICES ON BEHALF OF THRIVENT TO BE NEARLY 2.1 MILLION AND THE NUMBER OF VOLUNTEER HOURS THEY PROVIDED TO BE 14.1 MILLION HOURS.
RECONCILIATION OF NET ASSETS - PART XI, LINE 9 THE CHANGE IN NET ASSETS OR FUND BALANCES OF $8,356 REPORTED ON PART XI, LINE 9 IS DUE TO A LATE 2022 ADJUSTMENT FROM TMN NORTHLAND REGION.
