We aim to provide opportunities for people of all ages and skill levels to participate in tennis through organized play, education, and community outreach.

	Tennis Programs & Service Initiatives - USTA Adult and Youth programs offer quality recreational and competitive programs for people of all ages and abilities. Adult programs include USTA Leagues, recreational and social tennis, tournaments, Tennis on Campus college program, volunteer committees and councils and diversity & inclusion initiatives. Youth programs include Tennis In the Parks, Junior Team Tennis, junior competition, the 10 and under youth tennis progression, player development and beginner tennis events.

Explanation

PART I, LINE 2:

USTA New England provides grants to organizations or individuals to be used to further promote the growth and development of tennis. Individuals who submit applications and show financial need are awarded amounts to be used for tournament fees, equipment, travel, and other competition related expenses. Tennis facilities, camps, schools, and other organizations that promote tennis must demonstrate how the funds were used to create more accessible tennis programming. Organizations and individuals receiving funding must complete an application for support and receive permission in writing to deviate from the funding agreement letter. The Association monitors the use of grant funds paid to the State Associations by requiring them to submit their annual Form 990, financial statements at mid-year and year-end, and an accountability form.

A copy of the Form 990 is first reviewed by the Treasurer, CEO, and Finance Manager. Upon the Treasurer's approval, it is then forwarded to the full Board of Directors for review before it is filed with IRS.
FORM 990, PART VI, SECTION B, LINE 12C:	Each director and officer is required to review a copy of the conflict of interest policy, which requires each person to disclose any relationships, positions or circumstances in which he or she believes could contribute to a conflict. Following full disclosure of a possible conflict of interest, the Board of Directors shall determine whether an actual conflict of interest exists and, if so, the Board shall vote to authorize or reject the transaction or take any other action deemed necessary to address the conflict and protect the Section's best interests.
FORM 990, PART VI, SECTION B, LINE 15:	The salary for the Section's Chief Executive Officer was reviewed by the Section's compensation committee and approved by the full Board of Directors. These decisions are documented contemporaneously in the committee meeting notes and the Board meeting minutes. A written approval notice was sent to the Finance Manager by the Board President. Salary decisions for all employees are made using comparability data for similar positions in comparable organizations.
