What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? VANGUARD AFRICA ADVOCATES FOR FREE, FAIR AND TRANSPARENT ELECTION PROCESSES IN AFRICA AND HELPS TO CONSOLIDATE DEMOCRATIC FORCES TO ADVANCE A REFORM AGENDA.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 General Advocacy: Successfully pitched and published op-eds and commentary articles in a wide range of influential global media outlets, including Foreign Policy, The Africa Report, Al Jazeera English, as well as by means of our branded Africa Watch platform, which is published by Vanguard Africa and features expert commentary from our staff, advisory board members, and human rights defenders from across the African continent. In general, these social education efforts are meant to galvanize understanding of, and action to mitigate, the main challenges to democracy and free and fair elections in Africa while also strengthening respect for human rights, democratic governance, and ethical leadership. As part of these broad-based efforts, we also highlighted the leadership credentials of pro-democracy leaders from across Africa, elevating their profiles and causes in the media, at major global conferences, and at think tank gatherings to boost their personal security.

We also worked with pro-democracy leaders in both the Gambian and Zambian governments, and civil society, to help safeguard democratic gains following successful democratic elections. All told, we convened key African voices who are on the frontlines of fighting for human rights and democratic freedoms. We elevated these voices by further expanding an integrated global stage - via our Resistance Bureau website and branded social media platforms - to mobilize global solidarity for human rights defenders. Of those main speakers featured, a majority continued to be women and youth activists.

Furthermore, we partnered with several notable think tanks and pro-democracy institutions - namely the National Endowment for Democracy and the Atlantic Council - to organize timely events to inform audiences about the need for reforms that will enable a credible election process in line with established international standards.

We elevated these voices by further expanding an integrated global stage - via our Resistance Bureau website and branded social media platforms - to mobilize global solidarity for human rights defenders. Of those main speakers featured, a majority continued to be women and youth activists.

In general, these social education efforts are meant to galvanize understanding of, and action to mitigate, the main challenges to democracy and free and fair elections in Africa while also strengthening respect for human rights, democratic governance, and ethical leadership. As part of these broad-based efforts, we also highlighted the leadership credentials of pro-democracy leaders from across Africa, elevating their profiles and causes in the media, at major global conferences, and at think tank gatherings to boost their personal security.
