	The Area Conference also provides recognition for chapters who have been outstanding in the past biennium in executing programming in the five Facet program thrusts. Chapters prepare exhibits on their programing and submit nominations for their programming activities. These submissions are judged and grants are awarded for outstanding programming.

	Grant programming accomplishments:The Southern Area provided significant grants to local chapters to carry out community service during the fiscal year. These grants provided services for many needs of the community including for COVID19 clinics (vaccination, distribution of masks, awareness of symptoms, prevention, etc.), breast cancer, health screenings, heart health, home ownership tips, foster care, STEM careers, focus on HBCUs, and many more topics. Chapters implemented programs with these grants and / or partnered with community organizations to make services available to their respective local neighborhoods. In addition to, scholarships were awarded to students attending HBCUs in the seven states comprising the Southern Area. These HBCU scholars also are receiving academic training and development from the Southern Area of The Links, Incorporated which supplement their college's curriculum.

	Links Day at the Capital:For several years, Links members gathered at the state capitals in their respective seven states to meet with state legislators, hear about top legislative priorities for the upcoming legislative sessions and learn about ways they could help their communities be more aware of critical issues that would impact them. During the pandemic, this important opportunity wasn't missed but instead became a virtual setting. The members came together virtually on one Saturday in February 2022 and heard from legislators in all seven states. The members also participated in virtual breakout rooms to discuss topics specific to their state and plan activities that they could still accomplish to keep their communities aware of important issues. It was a very successful program with ~2,000 registrants.
