| Part III, General | | Explanation:| The Darien Cotillion Inc. is registered as a non-stock corporation since January 1987 in the State of Connecticut. As described in its By Laws the organization's purpose is to provide at least five formal ballroom dinner dances for the social enjoyment of its members. The organization has no physical facilities or employees so it contracts with dining facilities to provide food and service and with bands to provide music. The organization's officers include seven members usually couples who receive no compensation for their services. Officers pay the same fees as other members. Membership fees and assessments are in two parts:1 an annual membership fee to cover all operating costs except food and service 2 Dance fees for each dance to cover the cost of food and service. Dance fees are negotiated with each facility and are the same for all members and guests. The organization does not have any other assessment on members or guests. The organization does not sell any equipment clothing or other items to members or non-members. Attendance at dances is limited to members who have paid the dance fee with two exceptions: 1 Member Guests - members are entitled to invite no more than one guest couple to a dance if the guests have not previously attended a dance members are billed for such guests at the same price as members; 2 Organization Guests: The Cotillion may invite members of another dinner dance club to attend a dance Organization Guests are billed the same dance fee as members. In exchange these other dinner dance groups extend invitations for the organization's members to attend their dances. In order to ensure availability the organization books with the organization books with venues and bands as much as one year in advance and pays deposits. |
