Explanation:

In the past we have had an ending date of June 30, so we always filed our forms by Nov 15 for the previous year. For example 2022 was filed for July 1 2022 to June 30 2023. For whatever reason the end date on the Master exempt organization file has our end date changed for this year and I was not aware of this. Therefore when I tried to file 2023 on Oct 16 like I normally would with a year end date of 06 30 2024 my form was rejected. After consulting with the IRS help people I was told this was changed due to our main affiliate having a 12 31 end date. Rather than try to get this changed back to a 6-30 end date, I decided to file 2023 with a short period to get us on track with the Dec 31st end date. Of course this was too late to file for an extension. I will now file 2024 onward with an annual year date of 12 31. When you check our history you will see that we were always been on time with our filings. This change to a 12 31 end date is admittedly an oversight on my part. I should have caught it but did not.
