Summary of Direct Charitable Activities
List the foundation’s four largest direct charitable activities during the tax year. Include relevant statistical information such as the number of organizations and other beneficiaries served, conferences convened, research papers produced, etc. Expenses
1 Empty the Shelters - Grants awarded through BISSELL Pet Foundation's reduced-fee adoption program including four national events with more than 300 participating organizations as well as nine regional events. More than 88,000 dogs and cats were adopted through these events in 2023. 2,938,175
2 Donor Designated - In 2023, Donor Designated grants and program expenses supported specific projects or initiatives outside of BISSELL Pet Foundation's regular programmatic support. 526,732
3 Fix the Future & Spay/Neuter - Fix the Future was launched in 2023. Grants support the deployment of our network of relief veterinarians to provide affordable and accessible spay/neuter to communities in need. Each pet impacted also receives preventative vaccines and microchips. This program not only prepares shelter pets for adoption but also provides crucial services to community-owned pets through clinics for $25 or less. Fix the Future also includes a voucher program to offset the cost of spay/neuter in communities where BPF has partnerships with local veterinarians. More than 7,239 pets were "fixed" through this program in 2023. 454,990
4 Crisis & Disaster - Grants support the response of BISSELL Pet Foundation's Animal Incident Management (AIM) team to the most urgent situations when pets' lives are at stake. From pre-event planning to post-event recovery, animal search and rescue, shelter support, transport and mass care/humanitarian efforts, AIM responds when other organizations cannot. In 2023, AIM responded to 42 crises and natural disasters, saving countless pets who would not have had a chance without us. 503,600
