CPA WHO HAD PREPARED TAX RETURN FOR MANY YEARS RETIRED IN 2020. WITH THE PANDEMIC, IT WAS DIFFICULT TO FIND AN EXPERIENCED TAX PREPARER. THE TAX PREPARER CHOSEN MISREPRESENTED HIS SKILL SET IN PREPARING THE PROPER TAX RETURNS. HE ORIGINALLY FILED A 990-T AND A 990. THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA STARTED TO SEND WARNING LETTERS THAT THE 990-PF WAS MISSING. TAX PREPARER INSISTED ALL WAS OK. ONLY WHEN THE ORGANIZATION WAS SUSPENDED BY CALIFORNIA, DID THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS LOSE FAITH IN THIS TAX PREPARER. THEY RELIED UPON HIM TO PREPARE A PROPER RETURN.
