Public Programs - Part III, Line 4b Gibbs Farm: At Gibbs Farm, over 10,400 students attended field trips and summer programming. History Revealed Adult Programs: History Revealed series of historical programs served 1,300 attendees, online and in-person with 21 presentations. Videos of most presentations are made available on the RCHS website on YouTube channel. Tours: 84 Tours of the St. Paul City Hall/Ramsey County Courthouse and the Union Depot served 686 in-person attendees, of which 213 were schoolchildren. 9 different online 360 Degree Virtual tours had a total of 8718 unique visitors. Presley; Bob Brown: Paint What You See by Paul Nelson; All Hail Young Historians: Minnesota Represented at National History Day 2022 by Meredith Cummings; Addressing the "Trust Gap:" Harming History in the Twin Cities by Chad P. Roberts. Fall 2022: Farmer-Labor Founder William Mahoney and His Battle with Communists by Jim McCartney; A Man, a Woman, an Ox, and a Cart: Retracing the Red River Trail by Terry Doerksen; Whiteness in Plain View: A History of Racial Exclusion in Minnesota by Chad Montrie, reviewed by Renoir W. Gaither. Winter 2023: The Children's Preventorium of Ramsey County by Paul Nelson; Growing Up in St. Paul: My Harley Grandma Mary Eileen Kehoe and the St. Paul Motorcycle Escort Club by Eleta Pierce; Arrival of the Birds: The (Almost) Incredible 1897 Central High School Bird Observation by Dave Riehle. Spring 2023: From a Star on the Ball Diamond to a Star at the Minnesota State Capitol: Billy Williams by Frank M. White; A Slow Track to Nowhere: St. Paul's Downtown People Mover by Matt Goff; and Faith, Advocacy, & Service: A Snapshot of Ramsey County's Welfare Workers in the Great War by Johannes R. Allert. RCHS presented the 2022 Virginia B. Kunz award to Leeta M. Douglas; Judge John H. Guthmann earned an honorable mention. Paul Nelson won the RCHS Volunteer Award. RCHS promoted books at Art in the Hollow, Twin Cities Book Festival, and Landmark Center Holiday Bazaar. Richard Kronick sold Neighborhood Architecture-Irvine Park, Saint Paul: a coloring book at architectural walking tours, as did Jeanne Kosfeld at Wet Paint drawing classes. Terry Swanson spoke about Grasshoppers in My Bed: Lillie Belle Gibbs, Minnesota Farm Girl, 1877 at Gibbs Farm, Olly events, Thursday Club, and Women's Organization of the Minnesota Historical Society. Peggy Stern presented at Gibbs Farm and Octagon House Museum. RCHS celebrated authors at the 2023 Winter Carnival Rondo Night and the Juneteenth celebration. Rondo Center of Diverse Expression presented RCH magazine with a Rondo Achievement award. Finally, the March of the Governors podcast series continued to feature new programs on Minnesota governors. |
