What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? Life Together International seeks to shape a world where women, children, and men live free of oppressive systems, and flourish in life together as God intends. Our mission is to end the oppression of girls and women by cultivating biblical oneness between men and women. Through the integration of biblical and scientific messages on human bonding, with investment in girls and women, we minister alongside like-minded global partners to transform hearts so cultural practices that devalue, mutilate, or silence women and girls no longer hold sway in African communities.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 Form 990-EZ - Part III, Line 28 - MINISTRY ACHIEVEMENTS TO END FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION AND CULTIVATE GENDER EQUALITY - TOTAL $53,847. CONFERENCES TO EDUCATE TOWARD ENDING FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION (FGM) IN EAST AFRICA - $41,622. In the past fiscal year, we conducted 10 conferences and seminars across Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, reaching approximately 1,380 community leaders and young women in our IGA groups. By combining biblical and biological perspectives on love and bonding, we effectively challenged misconceptions surrounding God's perfect design for male and female sexuality. Our unique approach resonated with the teachers, counsellors, academics, young women and men, medical personnel, and pastoral couples we served. The unquestioning faithfulness of wives to their husbands is one of the most important driving forces of FGM. It has been believed that since FGM prevents girls and women from experiencing sexual pleasure, and instead, often causes pain, "cut" girls will have no desire for sex and will remain virgins before marriage. Likewise, wives will have no appetite for extramarital sex, and will stay faithful to their husbands. We explained, however, that FGM destroys God's natural bonding mechanism in women. When a husband brings his wife to sexual climax during pleasurable intimacy, he naturally releases in his wife a very large quantity of the bonding hormone oxytocin. This creates a strong chemical bond between the wife and her husband. Likewise, a wife naturally releases the same large quantity of oxytocin in her husband when she brings him to sexual climax, creating a chemical bond between the husband and his wife. But while the husband's climax increases his ability to bond to his wife, a woman without a clitoris is robbed of the mechanism for the stimulation of oxytocin release that would bond her to her husband. Not only is she deprived of intimate pleasure, she is also bereft of the strong emotional bond to her husband, and the sense of well-being God intended marriage to provide for her. Cut women are incapable of bonding to their husbands as powerfully as God designed their intact bodies to support. The God-designed mutuality in bonded faithfulness and love is only available to the husband and wife when both bodies are intact as God designed. Through our sessions, participants recognized that FGM undermines marital bonds and can lead to marital discord and abandonment, the exact opposite of what our participants had hoped FGM would achieve. Many attendees expressed a commitment to end the practice of FGM in their communities immediately. Income Generating Activities Empowering Young Women to Stand Against FGM - $6,054. We have created 22 Income Generating Activities (IGA's) for girls and young women since 2016. The skills of sewing, sweater-making, hairdressing, baking, and now, computer literacy have changed lives and continue to do so. Many groups have become self-sustaining and only need help from time to time. The funds used in this area during this fiscal year were dispersed to monitor evaluate ongoing projects and their effectiveness, and to understand their challenges. From these monitoring visits, we provided funds to repair several sewing machines and one sweater-making machine. We hired a new sewing venue for two groups that lost their sewing buildings due to road construction, and transported all the machines and equipment from one village to a different village in a third group so the girls would not have to travel as far to receive their training. Several groups were ready for the next level of training, so we hired trainers and paid their salaries. Because all our sweater-making groups were doing so well, we bought 4 bales of multiple colored yarn so the girls could make many items for sale and jumpstart their sustainability. These initiatives not only lifted poor girls out of extreme poverty, but also empowered them with the courage to expect autonomy over their own bodies. As a result, none of the girls have undergone FGM after joining our programs since 2016, and parental attitudes toward their daughters' autonomy have shifted toward greater respect for their daughters' decision-making. New Ministry Development - $6,171. Sebei Region Projects for Girls - Computer Literacy: We initiated literacy projects in Riwo and Terenpoy villages, Uganda, providing 3 computers, 1 generator (Riwo), and computer literacy training to 100 girls. Despite logistical challenges in remote areas, we equipped these communities with essential computer skills, anticipating improved employment opportunities in the future. New Sweater-Making Groups: Responding to requests from girls in Terenpoy, we established a sweater-making group alongside existing sewing initiatives. The girls' enthusiasm and progress show the success of our vocational training programs. Sewing and Sweater-Making Group in Ngenge, Uganda: We re-started a sewing project for 70 girls to combat the threat of FGM. Moving this group to a different village has allowed us to reach the most vulnerable girls. Biblical Equality Training in Butebo: Collaborating with local pastors, we conducted a conference on biblical gender equality at Agape School very first time. 150 pastors and their wives were so inspired that they requested more training as soon as possible. Women's Sewing Training in Kampala: Connecting two deeply respected ministry partners in Kampala, we supported 12 women from one group to enrol in a year-long sewing class held in the training center of the other. Bridging both ministry partners needs while serving unskilled women in new income producing ventures has been a particularly satisfying ministry outcome. In summary, our ministry efforts have significantly contributed to combating FGM, empowering young women, and fostering community development across East Africa. Through education, vocational training, and advocacy, we continue to strive for gender equality, human dignity and bodily autonomy for girls and women-all with the purpose of creating an atmosphere of mutual respect, leading to oneness between men and women in our mission areas.

29 Form 990-EZ - Part III, Line 29 - AGAPE ACADEMY AND PRIMARY, KALEKO VILLAGE, UGANDA - TOTAL $20,658. FOOD SECURITY FOR 580 CHILDREN AND STAFF. Life Together International, along with support from Grandville Federated Church (GFC) in Grandville, MA, has supported the education and development of vulnerable children and orphans at Agape Academy since 2015. This year, the number of students has grown to 568, with 15 teachers and staff. 101 of the students are orphans and live in the dormitories provided in past years by LTI and our partners at GFC. In addition to providing $4,525 in monthly funds for food, this year we bought a piggery with four stalls and 10 pigs. The piggery purchase included one acre of land. We also built a fence around the piggery house and land, totaling $,7,395. We supplied educational needs, sports equipment, and materials for our sewing project with $694. We built a solid brick perimeter wall around the newest section of classrooms, and a new pit latrine for the students in that area of the campus costing $7,867. We continue to help maintain the health of the water and proper functioning of the pump for the borehole we built seven years ago. This year we provided $177 for borehole maintenance.

30 Form 990-EZ - Part III, Line 30 - INVESTMENT IN MINISTRY PARTNERS' DEVELOPMENT, EFFECTIVENESS, AND SUSTAINABILITY - TOTAL $17,371. CONTRIBUTIONS TO AFRICAN PARTNERS MINISTRY DEVELOPMENT- Subtotal $2,426. These funds helped our long-term ministry partners move forward in their ability to serve others. We bought a mushroom dehydrator to take Fellie Bisamunyu's Mushroom Project to the next level. We repaired the 20-year-old van for our driver of 18 years so he could continue to serve our team. We bought a secondhand smartphone for our colleague who runs a program for street boys and provided funds to help her buy materials for teaching the boys. And we supported two African colleagues (an evangelist from Uganda and a Bishop from Kenya) while each one was ministering and fundraising in the United States. To provide these minimal amounts of support to colleagues who are crucial to our own work when we are in Africa shows our deep gratitude for their help to us, as well as for our appreciation of all the work of ministry they do in their home countries. COMPASSION FUNDS: MEDICAL Subtotal $2,680. These funds were used to provide medical assistance to Bethany Women's Hospital for the delivery of a mother with triplets; for 10 people-students, ministry partners or their loved ones who were hospitalized with malaria, stroke, brain cancer, 3rd degree burns, accidental poisoning, loss of vision, and a diabetic boil. COMPASSION FUNDS: FOOD Subtotal $5,257. LTI supported approximately 3700 people with food assistance during a severe drought in Uganda. COMPASSION FUNDS: EMERGENCY SUPPORT ASSIATANCE- Subtotal $2,976. We supported four close ministry partners with the unexpected death and burial expenses of a husband, 2 parents, and an aunt. SCHOOL FEES Subtotal $1,791. We paid school fees for six students. GIFTS OF GRATITUDE FOR SERVICE TO LTI Subtotal $985. We gave small gifts for our Uganda LTI team at Christmas, and small honorariums for our translators in Kenya and Tanzania. PARTNER COLLABORATION AND PLANNING Subtotal $1,256. Two trips from Boston to Atlanta to collaborate with Dr. Larry J. Young regarding our work and travel plans, as well as to participate in talks and to honor Dr. Young for receiving a prestigious award from Emory University that our work together helped him win.
