FURTHER, THE ASSOCIATION OFFERS CHARITABLE SCHOLARSHIPS TO ITS MEMBERS, IN ORDER FOR THE MEMBERS TO FURTHER THEIR EDUCATION. PART III - STATEMENT OF PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS --The DYFTFA Picnic and Scholarship Event was held on 8/6/23 at Capitol Park in Redford Twp, Michigan with 95 attendees. We provided American and Chinese food, soft drinks, bottled water, and dessert for all attendees. In addition we provided games, calligraphy lessons and door prizes. But more importantly, we honored and recognized 61 Yee Family scholars. Our picnic expenses were $4,658.74 and the scholarship awards were $16,100.00. The DYFTFA Autumn Fest was held on 10/8/23 at Upland Hills Farms in Oxford, Michigan with 50 attendees. We provided paid admission to the farm which included feeding animals, lectures on farm life, live demonstrations, door prizes and a magic show. All attendees were provided a lunch consisting of pizza, salad, pasta, and pulled pork sandwiches by the DYFTFA. The expenses for this event were $3,077.05. The DYFTFA visit to the Detroit Historical Museums Two Chinatowns - Detroit Exhibit was on 12/3/23 with 60 attendees. This special viewing was made possible due to historical photographs, audio recordings and artifacts from DYFTFA members that were loaned to the DHM. All expenses for this event were provided by the DYFTFA (Lunch and door prizes). In addition, a $1,000.00 donation was made to the Detroit Historical Museums 100th Anniversary Celebration Fund by the DYFTFA. Total expenses were $2,527.84. |
