VFW Post does not provide grants, we provide educational scholarship incentives to individuals; Post donates limited financial assistance to veterans in need and use a written criteria to vet and select recipients; Post also donates fund to vetted and recognized veteran support organizations. Part III, Line 2	In 2023, the Post began a major Building Upgrade and Modernization (BMU) effort for the current Post building and increased fund-raising efforts to meet the needs of a growing Post and the BMU effort. The Post also expanded its fundraising efforts so as to expand our Veterans Assistance and Support efforts. These parallel efforts and an increase in unrealized capital gains moved the Post past our normal $50,000 in receipts annually and our total assets exceeded $500,000.
Part VI, Line 11b	The directors of the organization were provided access to Form 990 via secure Post Drive for review and comment prior to the Form 990 being electronically filed.
Part VI, Line 18	Form 990 will be searchable via the IRS website, charitable organizations. Post provides our organization's EIN to anyone requesting it in order to review the documents on-line.
Part VI, Line 19	At this moment, VFW Post 8469 does not provide it documents openly available to the public but, on request, provides access to any and all applicable documents. Post will initiate a transparency process to place document onto its web site for any and all desiring access/visibility
Part VI, Line 1a	Per VFW Post 8469 By-Laws, the supreme control of the Post is vested in its members, each having an equal voice. The members elect an Executive committee who prepare the annual plan and budget and present same to members. The Executive Committee executes the members-approved plan; any deviations or modifications required must be approved by members at a regularly scheduled General Membership Meeting.
Part VI, Line 6	All members in good standing vote on the VFW Post's annual plan and vote to elect the Executive Committee from which the five Board Members recognized by the Virginia State Corporation Commission
Part VI, Line 7a	Per our VFW Post Bylaws, all members in good standing of the organization have voting rights for all elected and appointed members.
Part VI, Line 7b	The members are the supreme controllers of the Post activities and financial efforts. The members-elected Executive Committee execute the approved plans and budgets.
Part XII, Line 2c	VFW Post 8469 members elect three Trustees who serve a 3-year term (initial election was for a 1-yr, 2-yr and 3-yr term trustee so that only one per year is replaced. The trustees are charged with auditing the books and all related fiscal documents of the Quartermaster (CFO) and the Adjutant (HREO) per By-Laws and VFW National Manual of Procedure. The Trustees inform the General Membership as to the results and their audits are then approved.

Explanation:

This is filed to correct erroneous filing of the 990-N filed electronically and the 990-EZ filed previously on March 10, 2024, via USPS. The 990-EZ was returned in order to correct missing data (last 2 numbers of the organization's EIN) and to inform that our organization must file electronically. This organization has normally received gross receipts (donations) less than $50,000 and has filed the 990-N; however, given the organization's 2023 enhanced fundraising efforts in order to assist and support veterans and their families and the Post's increase in unrealized capital gains in our long-term program, we have exceeded the $500,000. Our short-term outlook indicates that we will need to file the Form 990 going forward.
