General explanation attachment In 2023, journalistic investigation by Caldwell/Hays Examiner exposed and stopped an illegal gun raffle hosted by the Lockhart Police Assoication; exposed sexual misconduct by a Commander at San Marcos Police Department; exposed a San Marcos aviation company under investigation for kidnapping immigrants; and exposed that a leader of one of the nations most infamous white suprmeacist hate groups is living in Hays County.Caldwell/Hays Examiners work was credited and reported on in 2023 by San Antonio Express-News, Austin American-Statesman, Austin Chronicle, San Marcos Daily Record, Public News Service, KXAN, Univision and Fox 7. Caldwell/Hays Examiner continued to pursue a federal lawsuit against the Texas State University System in defense of the right to access public records, and filed a new lawsuit against Caldwell County over their refusal to allow the press to attend magistration hearings.Nonprofit media organization focusing on local coverage and investigative reporting in two Texas counties underserved by other media outlets.
