Activity One Part VIII-A, Direct Charitable Activities The Ryobi Foundation runs and operates the Powers Art Center, the Ryobi House, manages hundreds of acres of land under conservation easement, and works with other institutions to show art from artists that were part of the former collection of John and Kimiko Powers. The majority of the charitable activities are programs and exhibits through the Powers Art Center. In 2023, the Powers Art Center was open to the public year round, with public hours and designated group tours days. Much of the Powers Art Center highlights the life work of Jasper Johns, but also showcases a rotating exhibit of other artists from the esteemed former collection of John and Kimiko Powers. The foundation continues to acquire important works produced by Jasper Johns. To accompany the viewing of art, the Powers Art Center also supports an extensive library for studying modern art and runs educational videos about modern art.The Powers Art Center is free to the public for viewings and hosts field trips for elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and the local community college. In addition to hosting school and student groups, the Ryobi Foundation hosted museum and art groups from a variety of institutions with the hope of creating stronger collaboration and making the collection available more widely. During the summer of 2023, the Ryobi Foundation continued it children's art program on Thursdays.The Ryobi Foundation continued its successful program working with art teachers in the Roaring Fork Valley to provide access and educational material to teachers and schools. Schools from Grand Junction, CO to Denver, CO, to Aspen, CO, participated in the program.In addition to creating a world of contemporary art for the community and broader public's enjoyment, the Ryobi Foundation maintains a working ranch that protects a traditional Colorado viewshed and provides conservation lands for wildlife.
