FORM 990-PF, PART VI-A, LINE 8B THE BEEMOK FAMILY FOUNDATION IS REGISTERED WITH THE SOUTH CAROLINA SECRETARY OF STATE CHARITIES DIVISION AND SUBMITS A COPY OF FORM 990-PF ANNUALLY. THE SOUTH CAROLINA ATTORNEY GENERAL DOES NOT REQUIRE THAT A COPY OF FORM 990-PF BE FILED WITH THEIR OFFICE, BUT MAINTAINS THE RIGHT TO RECEIVE A COPY IF REQUESTED. THE FOUNDATION WILL COMPLY WITH ANY SUCH REQUEST AS APPLICABLE.
FORM 990-PF, PART VIII-A CONTINUATION OF SUMMARY OF DIRECT CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES:LINE 1. SCHOLARSHIP: THE MEETING STREET SCHOLARSHIP FUND (MSSF) EMPOWERS EACH ELIGIBLE STUDENT IN THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA WITH A COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP OF UP TO $10,000 PER YEAR (UP TO $40,000 IN TOTAL.) IN 2023, THE PROGRAM SERVED 518 STUDENTS GRADUATING FROM PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS IN ELEVEN ELIGIBLE COUNTIES WHO MET OBJECTIVE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE AND FINANCIAL NEED CRITERIA AND ATTENDED ONE OF SOUTH CAROLINA'S COLLEGES WITH A GRADUATION RATE OVER 50%. THE FOUNDATION MAINTAINS SIGNIFICANT INVOLVEMENT WITH MSSF RECIPIENTS BY PROVIDING ONGOING RESOURCES THEY NEED TO GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE AND ENTER THE WORKFORCE. THE FOUNDATION CONDUCTS PRESENTATIONS, WORKSHOPS, AND PANEL DISCUSSIONS FOR MSSF RECIPIENTS AT THE ANNUAL MSSF AWARD CELEBRATION AND ON CAMPUSES. THE CONTENT PRESENTED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR INCLUDES AN INTRODUCTION TO AND ADVICE FROM PROMINENT BUSINESS AND CIVIC LEADERS IN THE COMMUNITY, INSTRUCTION ON RELATIONSHIP BUILDING SKILLS, MENTORSHIP FROM PAST SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS, NETWORKING WITH PEERS AND ADMINISTRATORS SPECIFIC TO THE COLLEGE CAMPUS THEY WILL ATTEND, TOOLS FOR MENTAL AND PHYSICAL WELLNESS, AND CAREER READINESS. THE FOUNDATION CONTINUES TO SUPPORT STUDENTS WHEN THEY REACH CAMPUS. MSSF RECIPIENTS ENTERING COLLEGE ARE PAIRED WITH A NEAR-PEER MENTOR. MENTORS SHARE RELEVANT ADVICE, INFORMATION, RECOMMENDATIONS, AND RESOURCES AIMED AT ENCOURAGING BEHAVIOR AND HABITS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO MSSF RECIPIENTS PROGRESSING TO COLLEGE GRADUATION. MENTORS REMAIN ACCESSIBLE TO STUDENTS THROUGH ALL FOUR YEARS OF COLLEGE. IN 2023, THE FOUNDATION TRAINED AND SUPERVISED CAMPUS AMBASSADORS AT EACH MAJOR PARTNER CAMPUS. THE CAMPUS AMBASSADORS PROGRAM PROVIDES LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES TO SECOND THROUGH FOURTH YEAR MSSF RECIPIENTS. CAMPUS AMBASSADORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ENGAGING AND SUPPORTING MSSF RECIPIENTS ON THEIR SAME CAMPUS THROUGH WEEKLY COMMUNICATION, IN-PERSON EVENTS AND GATHERINGS, AND COMMUNITY BUILDING THAT FOSTERS INCLUSIVITY AND NETWORKING. THE FOUNDATION'S FULL-TIME SPECIALIZED STAFF OF FORMER EDUCATORS AND NUMEROUS VOLUNTEERS MAINTAIN SIGNIFICANT INVOLVEMENT WITH STUDENTS THROUGHOUT THEIR COLLEGE EDUCATION VISITING AND CONDUCTING PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS ON THEIR CAMPUSES, SERVING AS A RESOURCE FOR INTERNSHIPS, AND PROVIDING INDIVIDUALIZED SUPPORT FOR ATTAINING GRADUATION AND ENTERING SUCCESSFUL CAREERS. EVIDENCE OF THEIR IMPACT IS SIGNIFICANT. FIRST-YEAR MSSF RECIPIENTS PERSIST IN COLLEGE AND ACHIEVE AT A HIGHER RATE THAN COMPARABLE FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS. ADDITIONALLY, 90 PERCENT OF MSSF RECIPIENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED ONE YEAR OF COLLEGE HAVE GRADUATED OR ARE ON TRACK TO GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE.
