Explanation:

Our Steering Committee members are all volunteers. Past filings were done by an accounting firm. They were 990N postcards. When we called the IRS we found that those had not been accepted for some reason. The accounting firm got that problem corrected in early February. We also, erroneously, thought our accountants had secured an extension of time for us. We submit our form 990 late due to our inexperience and confusion regarding previous filings. As a volunteer officer for UAWD and an autoworker with a full time job I worked through this form in my spare time. In the future I expect we will be able to start earlier and have better accounting software to make the task less cumbersome in the future.
