| Other | PART III; LINE 29: Since its inception, two full concerts have occurred in the fall and spring at Calvary Episcopal Church in Cincinnati. This year, we added a third concert and residency in collaboration with Wilmington College. Approximately 300 people attend each concert, and a reception follows both as an opportunity for the artists and audience members to engage each other. For each concert, 24 singers are employed, often collaborating with other members of the community, singers from the Winton Woods High School Varsity Ensemble, the Cincinnati Young Professionals Choral Collective, Cincinnati Boy Choir, and Vox Veritatis, among others. Guest artists and conductors have included the world-renowned conductor Mack Wilberg (Mormon Tabernacle Choir), Stephen Cleobury (King's College Cambridge), organist Raymond Nagem (Cathedral of St. John the Divine), Yun Kim (international concert organist), Isabelle Demers (McGill University; concert organist), Bradley Welch (Dallas Symphony Orchestra), and Greg Zelek (Madison Symphony Orchestra). These concerts are primarily funded by in-kind donations. |
| Pt III, Line 31 | The Summer Voice Institute (formerly the Savannah Choral and Voice Institute) began as an annual choral and voice week-long intensive workshop at the Georgia Southern University Armstrong Campus, Savannah, Georgia. Due to uncertainties of the status of the pandemic, in the summer of 2021 it took place in CFE's facility in Cincinnati. It is typically comprised of ten employed master teachers from within CFE and other prestigious universities. Students have attended from the Cincinnati area, Kentucky, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, South Carolina, Arkansas, and Nigeria. Students perform on at least one of three recitals (each having an attendance of 30-50 audience members), and at least one of two masterclasses (attended by all institute participants). They also receive private voice lessons and coaching throughout the week. This institute was created to provide a world-class workshop with a very low tuition, offering many fundraised scholarships, to make this opportunity attainable no matter the students' socio-economic status. The participating students are from the high school, undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels. This year, our summer mentorship program and recital took us to England. |
| Other | PART III; LINE 30: The CFE Chamber Music Series (formerly the Clifton Gaslight Chamber Music Series) is an annual 2 to 3 concert series which takes place at the Cincinnati Fusion Ensemble Institute. This series was created to celebrate the local artistic community of Cincinnati. Originally held over one weekend in the summer at Calvary Episcopal Church, this past year the series encompassed a Halloween Concert, a Twelfth Night Concert, and Art-O-Rama (a celebration of visual art and music). A variety of musician artists are employed across the recitals. In addition, these programs showcase members of CFE's Institute of Music High School Scholars and their mentors, and raise funds for their scholarships. The concerts present genres such as art song from various countries, piano solo, choral, musical theater, and instrumental selections. Generally, a total of 175 audience members are served by the series, and a reception is held in conjunction with each, giving the performers and audience members time to engage. |
| Other | PART III; LINE 28: Cincinnati Fusion Ensemble Institute of Music - The Cincinnati Fusion Ensemble expanded its teaching facility to approximately 8000 square feet in the spring of 2018. This expansion's purpose was to allow for the growth of our education institute, allowing us to accommodate more students, increase performance opportunities, and increase the ability to offer additional workshops. The institute typically hosts multiple student recitals throughout the year, which include students from our partnership with Winton Woods High School; there are approximately 24 students in each recital. We also host three Coffee for a Cause evenings (a variety-show format, benefitting a local charity) featuring our students. In the beginning of 2020, we were able to add to our keyboard lab to accommodate class piano instruction. While in-person lessons were suspended at beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, 20 of our keyboard and voice students elected to take lessons virtually, and we were able to restart in person lessons in the spring of 2021. |
| Other | Part Three Line 31 Heri et Hodie (Yesterday and Today) came under CFE's umbrella in 2023. Heri et Hodie is an intimate treble voice ensemble that performs both medieval and modern music, specifically researching and promoting the work of women composers. Equally comfortable with the classical realm but also delving into folk traditions Heri et Hodie brings humor and history together with engaging and dynamic musical presentations. In their first three seasons they have already commissioned and premiered four works by women composers, including participation in the 25 for 25 May Festival commissioning project with Luna Lab. In keeping with CFE's education mission, members of Heri et Hodie developed a presentation on women in music and brought it to four local public schools this year. |
