THE BLOOD CENTER HAS INVESTMENTS IN THE FOLLOW ORGANIZATIONS: BLOOD CENTERS OF AMERICA, INC. (BCA) BCA IS A MEMBER-OWNED ORGANIZATION COMPRISED OF OVER 50 INDEPENDENT BLOOD CENTERS THROUGHOUT THE NORTH AMERICA. BCA MEMBER SERVICES INCLUDE PATIENT BLOOD MANAGEMENT, TRANSFUSION SERVICES, IMMUNOHEMATOLOGY TESTING, THERAPEUTIC APHERESIS, AND TISSUE AND CORD BLOOD BANKING. IN ADDITION, BCA MEMBERS PROVIDE A VARIETY OF HUMAN BLOOD PRODUCTS, CELLS AND TISSUES TO THE THERAPEUTIC, DIAGNOSTIC AND CELL THERAPY INDUSTRIES. THE BLOOD CENTER'S INITIAL INVESTMENT WAS $350,000. THE BLOOD CENTER'S INVESTMENT REPRESENTS APPROXIMATELY 3% OF BCA'S TOTAL MEMBERSHIP AND IS THEREFORE ACCOUNTING FOR ON THE COST METHOD. BIO-PARTNERS NETWORK, LLC (BIO-PARTNERS) THE BLOOD CENTER SHARES IN A RESEARCH DATABASE OF DONOR HEALTH PROFILES CALLED THE BIO-PARTNERS NETWORK. PROFILES HELP LINK THE DONOR TO A RESEARCH PROJECT WITHIN THE NETWORK. WHEN A LINK IS FOUND BETWEEN A DONOR AND A RESEARCHER THE BLOOD CENTER WILL NEGOTIATE A FEE WITH THE RESEARCHER. THE BLOOD CENTER'S INITIAL INVESTMENT WAS $49,500 WHICH, AT THAT TIME, REPRESENTED APPROXIMATELY 24% OF BIO-PARTNERS' TOTAL MEMBERSHIP AND WAS THEREFORE ACCOUNTED FOR ON THE EQUITY METHOD. DURING THE YEAR ENDED SEPTEMBER 30, 2020 THE BIO-PARTNERS OBTAINED ADDITIONAL MEMBERS WHICH RESULTED IN THE BLOOD CENTER'S INVESTMENT TO BE 16%. ACCORDINGLY, THE BLOOD CENTER NOW ACCOUNTS FOR THIS INVESTMENT ON THE COST METHOD. NATIONAL BLOOD TESTING COOPERATIVE (NBTC) NBTC IS A BLOOD TESTING COOPERATIVE ORGANIZATION CREATED BY NINE BLOOD CENTERS TO ALLOW COMMUNITY-BASED BLOOD CENTERS TO BETTER MANAGE THEIR BLOOD TESTING NEEDS. NBTC PROVIDES HIGH-QUALITY TESTING SERVICES, AT COST, TO ITS OWNER-MEMBERS. THE BLOOD CENTER'S INITIAL INVESTMENT WAS $82,578. THE BLOOD CENTER'S INVESTMENT REPRESENTS APPROXIMATELY 3% OF NBTC'S TOTAL MEMBERSHIP AND IS THEREFORE ACCOUNTED FOR ON THE COST METHOD. DEGREE 37, LLC IN 2023, THE BLOOD CENTER MADE A STRATEGIC INVESTMENT IN DEGREE 37, LLC TO DEVELOP A CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT (CRM) SYSTEM TAILORED FOR BLOOD CENTERS CALLED DEGREE37. DEGREE37 AIMS TO ENHANCE OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY AND STREAMLINE PROCESSES WITHIN THE BLOOD CENTER INDUSTRY. CURRENTLY, THE BLOOD CENTER UTILIZES THE INVITA SUITE OF CRM. THE INVESTMENT IN DEGREE37 IS A PART OF A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT AMONG SEVERAL INDEPENDENT BLOOD CENTERS, INCLUDING THE BLOOD CENTER, TO ACCELERATE THE IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS AND FACILITATE A QUICKER TRANSITION TO THE NEW CRM SYSTEM. SUNCOAST IS SCHEDULED TO TRANSITION TO THE DEGREE37 CRM SYSTEM ON APRIL 1ST, 2024, MARKING A SIGNIFICANT MILESTONE IN ITS OPERATIONAL ENHANCEMENT STRATEGY. THE BLOOD CENTER'S INITIAL INVESTMENT WAS $150,000. THE BLOOD CENTER'S INVESTMENT REPRESENTS APPROXIMATELY 3% OF DEGREE 37, LLC'S TOTAL MEMBERSHIP AND IS THEREFORE ACCOUNTED FOR ON THE COST METHOD. ALLIANCE FOR COMMUNITY TRANSFUSION SERVICES, LLC (ACTS) ACTS IS A MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION DESIGNED TO PROVIDE ITS MEMBERS WITH RESOURCES TO IMPROVE EFFICIENCIES, OPERATIONS AND OPPORTUNITIES TO BETTER SERVE DONORS AND PATIENTS THROUGH SHARED EXPERIENCES AND EXPERTISE. THE BLOOD CENTER'S INVESTMENT REPRESENTS APPROXIMATELY 4% OF ACTS' TOTAL MEMBERSHIP AND IS THEREFORE ACCOUNTED FOR ON THE COST METHOD. SBBS'S INVESTMENT IN ACTS' AS OF 9/30/23 IS $39,731. |
