| CONTINUED FROM PART III: | MORE THAN 30 YEARS AGO, IN 1992, THE SEED OF AUSTIN PARKS FOUNDATION WAS PLANTED. APF STARTED AS A VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION AND WE ARE CONTINUING AND EXPANDING THOSE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES WHILE DOING MORE THAN EVER BEFORE TO SUPPORT THE CITY'S NEARLY 400 PARKS, TRAILS AND GREEN SPACES. HERE ARE JUST A FEW OF THE HIGHLIGHTS WE'VE CELEBRATED IN THE PAST YEAR: WE TEAMED UP WITH THE SAN ANTONIO SPURS TO ANNOUNCE PLAY ATX, A $500,000 MULTI-YEAR PROGRAM DEDICATED TO RENOVATING PARKS AND BASKETBALL COURTS THROUGHOUT AUSTIN. SOME OF THE PROJECTS ARE ALREADY COMPLETE, WITH MORE PLANNED IN THE FUTURE. SPECIFICALLY GARRISON PARK HAD A SIGNIFICANT COURT RENOVATION IN 2023. WE MADE A $2M COMMITMENT TO MATCH THE CITY OF AUSTIN'S FUNDS TO PROVIDE MANMADE AND NATURAL SHADE STRUCTURES AT PARKS ACROSS AUSTIN. WE CELEBRATED THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF IT'S MY PARK DAY (IMPD), OUR BIANNUAL, COMMUNITY-WIDE VOLUNTEER EVENT THAT FEATURES MORE THAN 160 PARK PROJECTS AND THOUSANDS OF VOLUNTEERS. OUR 2023 EVENTS GENERATED NEARLY $600,000 IN LABOR VALUE (EQUAL TO EIGHT FULL-TIME PARD MAINTENANCE STAFF), WITH NEARLY 19,000 HOURS LOGGED AND 96,170 POUNDS OF TRASH COLLECTED. WE CELEBRATED THE OPENING OF THE BRAND NEW EARL J. POMERLEAU POCKET PARK, IN NORTHEAST AUSTIN. WE STARTED PLANNING WORK ON AUSTIN'S FIRST PUBLIC ALL ABILITIES PLAYGROUND, WHICH WILL BE APF'S LARGEST PROJECT TO DATE. APF HOSTED 83 CIVIC AND CUSTOM CORPORATE VOLUNTEER WORKDAYS IN 2023, TOTALING NEARLY 250 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER LABOR PUT DIRECTLY BACK INTO OUR PARKS. IN ADDITION TO THE MAINTENANCE PROVIDED BY OUR VOLUNTEER WORKDAYS AND IMPD, APF INVESTS IN SPECIAL, SHORT-TERM PROJECTS, AS WELL AS LONG-TERM, STRATEGIC IMPROVEMENTS. BY PROVIDING DESIGN ASSISTANCE AND FUNDING PARK RENOVATIONS ALL OVER THE CITY, WE ARE INCREASING ACCESS AND IMPROVING THE USABILITY OF SOME OF OUR CITY'S MOST WELL-LOVED PARKS, AS WELL AS THOSE THAT NEED HELP TO BECOME THE URBAN SANCTUARIES THEY ARE MEANT TO BE.
