Explanation:

In 2023 the club required the services of an attorney and members established a fund to establish a retainer. The chart of accounts did not yet include the account types for the bookkeeping that was necessary to properly transact these steps. In addition the bookkeeping assistance that had been provided was rushed with a focus on identifying the profitability of merchandise tied to events that did not account for them to match the 990 forms. In the process of this very late filing I downloaded the Unified Chart of Accounts for Nonprofits and I activated the use of account numbers in our QuickBooks account such that we were finally able to sort many account duplications and mis categorizations to find the cost of the inventory we knew had been spent. It had been entered as a negative income transaction against the revenue account. Having found this situation we audited all transactions for negative income transactions and worked through every transaction until they were all properly assigned to the correct accounts AND confirmed the same ending profit loss. Finally the Commodore Jason Fergerson resigned mid-year for undisclosed personal reasons and there were some delays in completing transfer of account access as a result.
