I am writing to request leniency with regard to filing the 990 forms. Mid Appalachian Quilters is a volunteer organization. We have been completely operated by volunteers. Unfortunately, due to an oversight from a former treasurer, the contact information for the treasurer has not been updated through several changes to the leadership roster and notices were not received by the correct person. I was the treasurer for 2023/24 and received no direction from the previous treasurer and i do not even know the person the form 990 was sent to. We were also not able to access our financial information For the 2024/25 year, Megan Harris will be the new Treasurer and I ask that you update the address on file to 5035 Arnold Rd, Glenville, PA17329. The sole purpose of our organization is to provide an annual retreat for quilters, where members come together to take classes to learn new techniques and skills. During the height of COVID, we had to cancel our annual events and as an organization, we incurred over $7000 in losses for credit card processing fees we incurred returning registrations when our events were canceled and we did not qualify for any of the government COVID funds. We are still recovering from these losses and registration has been seriously impacted by the continuation of COVID-19. Our membership numbers are significantly lower than they were pre-covid.
