What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? SAVMA Purpose: 1.- To promote a friendly community and spirit among the students enrolled in the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine (UTCVM); 2.- To provide additional opportunities for members to gain professional knowledge and an understanding of professional ethics and conduct; 3.- To encourage student involvement in organized veterinary medicine; 4.- To promote student involvement in community outreach programs; 5.- To develop leadership skills through training received in conducting Chapter affairs; and, 6.- To make available the opportunities offered by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and SAVMA to Chapter members.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 The organization served approximately 706 student members through professional development, specialty education, leadership training, and community-building programs. SAVMA supported 16 specialty clubs, each offering lectures, wet labs, hands-on training, externship resources, continuing education opportunities, and professional networking aligned with a diversity of species and clinical interests. Programs included tutoring, wellness activities, educational speakers, philanthropy events, and student participation in national SAVMA and AVMA conventions. These activities enhanced academic learning beyond the curriculum, promoted leadership and professional identity, and supported student engagement in the veterinary profession.
