TDEA Annual Convention is the biggest event of the year. It is held in early January and is open to the entire association membership. The convention promotes interaction among the Drill Team Directors, Promotes Education in the Dance and Drill Team Members, and rewards minimal college scholarships. Amounts awarded to outstanding students as a means of furthering their education beyond the High School years. These students are recognized by their directors for outstanding achievement in the Dance/Drill team field.

Members with voting privleges are: Active-current dance educators or dance drill team educators in elementary, secondary and college with a valid Texas Teaching Certificate. Inactive-any person formerly qualified above (may be retired) Associate Level 1-persons affiliated with dance educators and dance drill team community such as drill team instructors, studio instructors. Lifetime-Any charter member, recipient of Lifetime Achievement Award or past President of TDEA.
