THE NEW CANAAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM TELLS THE STORY OF THE TOWN OF NEW CANAAN AND ITS GREATER COMMUNITY. THROUGH COLLECTIONS AND RESEARCH, PROGRAMS AND EVENTS. THE MUSEUM CELEBRATES HISTORY AND EXPLORES ITS IMPACT ON THE FUTURE. OUR MISSION ADDS TO THIS DIRECTIVE BY EMPHASIZING REASEARCH, PRESERVATION AND EDUCATION. OUR MOST SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES INCLUDE SCHOOL TOURS, A MODERN HOUSE DAY TOUR TO CELEBRATE MID CENTURY MODERN ARCHITECTURE AND NUMEROUS EXHIBITIONS.

PUBLICATIONS ON NEW CANAAN'S HISTORY. IT HAS THREE GALLERY SPACES AND PUTS ON EXHIBITIONS IN EACH OF THOSE VENUES. IT RUNS PROGRAMS , EVENTS AND LECTURES. THE LARGEST PROGRAMS FOR THE FISCIAL YEAR 2023 WERE: 1. OCTOBER 4 DESIGN A MONTH LONG SERVICES OF PROGRAMS, LECTURES AND ACTIVITIES INVOLVING ARCHITECTURE, ART AND DESIGN. 2. STEP INTO SUMMER - MAJOR SPRING FUNDRAISER 3. ICE CREAM SOCIAL- OUTREACH WHERE BY WE WELCOME MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY TO HAVE ICE CREAM AND LEARN MORE ABOUT WHAT IS OFFERED BY THE SOCIETY.

AT THE ANNUAL MEETING, THE GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE SHALL PRESENT A SLATE OF CANDIDATES FOR ELECTION TO THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS. THE ORGANIZATION'S MEMBERS SHALL ELECT SUCH NUMBER OF GOVERNORS AS SHALL CONSTITUTE A BOARD OF NOT LESS THAN 15 AND NOT MORE THAT 24 MEMBERS WHO SHALL BE ELECTED FOR A 3 YEAR TERM, WITH THE TERMS ARRANGED, AS FAR AS BEING PRACTICAL IN THE JUDGEMENT OF THE BOARD, SO THAT ONE THIRD OF THE BOARD IS SUBJECT TO ELECTION EACH YEAR.

THIS SHALL ALSO INCLUDE THE MEMBERS' BUSINESS OR OTHER PROFIT AFFILIATIONS, FAMILY AND OR A SIGNIFICANT OTHER, EMPLOYER, OR CLOSE ASSOCIATION WHO MAY STAND TO RECEIVE A BENEFIT OR GAIN. EACH INDIVIDUAL SHALL DISCLOSE TO THE BOARD CHAIR ANY PERSONAL INTEREST THAT HE OR SHE MAY HAVE IN ANY MATTER PENDING BEFORE THE ORGANIZATION AND SHALL REFRAIN FROM PARTICICPATION IN ANY DISCUSSION OR DECISION ON SUCH MATTERS.
