| Form 990, Part III, 4a-4c Program Service Accomplishments | YOUTH DEVELOPMENT * We offer opportunities for kids to start a lifetime of healthy activities through youth sports, swimming lessons, and other activities. The Y offers a multitude of activities from youth basketball to gymnastics, and everything in between. There is something for every kid at the YMCA. * We empower children to make friends, gain confidence, develop skills, and create memories to last a lifetime through our summer day camp program. All campers participated in daily activities, weekly field trips, and a free lunch program. * We prepare children for future success - academically and socially - to enter kindergarten. The Milton YMCA holds Pre-K Counts and the Sunbury YMCA has the Giant Step preschool program. Our before and after-school programs offer academic tutoring as well as teaching the Y's core values of Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Honesty. *In partnership with the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit, we offered STEM programming at all four Y branches and at the Arts Center. *In partnership with the Milton HS, the Milton YMCA is developing an Esports team and creating a high-tech Esports space. * We inspire and empower teens with leadership skills, values and healthy living habits. These teen programs are offered to local kids free of charge. * Safe Swim Program. The Safe Swim Program at the Greater Susquehanna Valley YMCA consists of the Lewisburg School District and Milton School District at the Milton YMCA and Line Mountain School District and Shikellamy School District at the Sunbury YMCA. The Greater Susquehanna Valley YMCA is teaching every 2nd grader throughout the valley how to be safe in the water. This program is made possible by the generous financial support of the Spreading Antlers Children's Foundation. HEALTHY LIVING * GSV YMCA continues to offer members Virtual Group Exercise classes, but in person classes are back in full force. Our group exercise classes had over 70,000 attendees throughout 2024. * We motivate and support healthier lifestyles by offering programs such as fitness challenges, personal training, fitness classes for all levels and more. The Y is not only a resource for those who wish to stay fit, but it also actively engages in helping those who need the Y's expertise to help them make changes needed to start a healthy lifestyle. * We empower hundreds of seniors to stay physically and socially active through both land and water-based programs. The Y is proud of our collaborative efforts with the senior community to help keep our senior population healthy, socially engaged, and independent. *The GSV YMCA continues to partner with 2 local hospitals, Geisinger and Evangelical Community Hospital, to manage the Lewisburg YMCA at the Miller Center. *The GSV YMCA continues a service agreement with Coal Township to manage and run programs out of the Welsh Center in Coal Township. * The Lewisburg Y offers multiple opportunities for individuals with Parkinson's - Rock Steady Boxing, exercise classes, and a support group. *The Lewisburg Y also offers PWR!Moves for people living with Parkinson's Disease. It is designed around the four basic elements of exercise, targeted to help counteract bradykinesia, rigidity, and incoordination. *The Lewisburg YMCA holds an Annual Y Challenge, a race that starts in Mifflinburg and goes 7.5 miles down the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail, ending at the Lewisburg Y. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY *Our Y has been listening and responding to our communities' most critical social needs for more than 130 years. Whether developing skills or emotional well-being through education and training, welcoming and connecting diverse demographic populations, and building healthier communities through collaborations, the Y fosters the care and respect all people need and deserve. * The Milton YMCA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) & Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides nutritious meals to children each day. These meals contribute to their wellness, healthy growth, and development. In 2024, approximately 89,300 healthy, well balanced meals and 58,100 snacks were served. *The Sunbury YMCA food pantry served 8,212 individuals in 2024. *The Welsh Center food assistance program served 68 households in 2024. * We strengthen positive family relationships through family fun nights, family programs, and parent-child programs. With the onset of the "internet generation," the Y's efforts to maintain face-to-face activities for the whole family are making a positive difference in the ability of family members to connect with one another. *The YMCA Arts Center offered various art programs for children and adults. *In partnership with a local hospital, each of our four branches offered monthly blood pressure and blood sugar screenings. * The free programs Time Flies! and The Friendship Club provides adults with disabilities a space to enjoy activities and make new friends. * QPR Suicide Prevention Training is offered at each branch through the year and the YMCA has a certified trainer on staff. * Sunbury YMCA Coat Drive. Each year, the Sunbury YMCA holds a coat drive to help keep our community warm during the winter months. The collection begins in the fall and Steininger's Dry Cleaning cleans all of the donated items. In 2024, we were proud to host the 21st annual event and were able to provide families throughout the Valley with over 1000 warm coats, hats, and gloves. |
