MEDICAL NEEDS SUPPORTED BY THE FOUNDATION RANGE FROM PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION, TO DENTAL WORK, TO EMERGENCY SURGICAL PROCEDURES AND DIABETIC SUPPLIES. THE FOUNDATION DOES NOT EXERCISE ANY CONTROL OVER THE PROFESSIONAL CARE AND JUDGMENT OF THE DOCTORS SELECTED FOR MEDICAL CARE. FOR 2024, THE PROGRAM SERVED 212 FAMILIES. 166,792
2 THE FOUNDATION BELIEVES THERE SHOULD BE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF THEIR COMMUNITIES. THE "SCHNITZER CARES" PROGRAM WAS ESTABLISHED TO PROVIDE AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE TEENS LEARN ABOUT THE NEEDS OF THEIR COMMUNITY THROUGH GRANTMAKING AND DEVELOP A LONG-TERM UNDERSTANDING OF PHILANTHROPY AND ETHIC OF VOLUNTEERISM. BY CHALLENGING STUDENTS TO ENGAGE IN COMMUNITY SERVICE THAT IS BOTH REWARDING AND EDUCATIONAL, WE HOPE TO ENCOURAGE THEM TO BECOME ACTIVE LEADERS IN THE FUTURE.
