Briefly describe the organization’s mission: The mission of the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches is to create and promote a favorable business climate in the Palm Beaches. This is accomplished by energetically representing the collective interests of business in the private and (continues on Schedule O) public decision-making process, by disseminating relevant information and other services to the membership and by becoming involved in all aspects of community life that affect the business climate. The mission is financed through fair and equitable membership investments dues, special events, and sales of services.

Return Reference	Explanation
Part X, Line 2:	The Chamber is a membership organization organized under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(6), and as such, is exempt from federal and state income taxes except for unrelated business income which is subject to taxation at regular corporate income tax rates. No income tax expense is recorded in these financial statements due to the offset of net operating loss carry forwards from earlier years. The Chamber follows the guidance of FASB ASC 740, Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes. This standard seeks to reduce the diversity in practice associated with certain aspects of measurement and recognition in accounting for income taxes. It prescribes a recognition threshold and measurement attribute for financial statement recognition and measurement of a tax position that an entity takes or expects to take in a tax return. An entity may only recognize or continue to recognize tax positions that meet a "more likely than not" threshold. The Chamber assesses the income tax positions based on management's evaluation of the facts, circumstances, and information available at the reporting date. The Chamber uses the prescribed more likely than not threshold when making their assessment. There are currently no open Federal or State tax years under audit.
