PROGRAMMING IS OFFERED IN FIVE CONCENTRATION AREAS: - CAREER DEVELOPMENT - ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT - HEALTH AND WELLNESS - HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION AND REMEDIATION - LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT 2) MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMMING INCLUDES INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY THERAPY AS WELL AS PEER SUPPORT GROUPS. COUNSELING IS PROVIDED BY SPECIALISTS IN ADOLESCENT DEVELOPMENT. ALL ATTIC COUNSELORS AND THERAPISTS ARE MEMBERS OF THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY AND PROVIDE SESSIONS IN PERSON AND VIRTUALLY. 3) THE BRYSON INSTITUTE OF THE ATTIC YOUTH CENTER PROVIDES TRAINING, OUTREACH, AND CONSULTATION TO SCHOOLS, SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES, AND FAITH COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE TRI-STATE AREA ON THE BEST PRACTICES FOR CREATING SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE SPACES FOR LGBTQ YOUTH. ATTIC YOUTH PANELISTS ALSO LEAD TRAININGS, SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES, AND PARTICIPATE IN DISCUSSIONS. 4) ADDITIONAL SUPPORTIVE SERVICES INCLUDES DAILY MEALS AND ACCESS TO FOOD PANTRY ITEMS, ACCESS TO COMPUTERS AND OTHER TECHNOLOGY, DAILY DROP-IN, AND ACCESS TO OTHER BASIC NEEDS SUCH AS CLOTHING, COATS, BACKPACKS, SCHOOL AND PERSONAL HYGIENE SUPPLIES. 2024 HIGHLIGHTS 1) THE ATTIC YOUTH CENTER WAS OPEN CONTINUOUSLY FOR ONSITE, IN PERSON PROGRAMMING MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, INCLUDING COUNSELING SERVICES, DAILY LIFE SKILLS CENTER ACTIVITIES, AND ON-SITE DINNERS (WITH TAKE-AWAY OPTION). 2) HOSTED ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL OPEN HOUSE DURING JUNE FOR CURRENT AND NEW LGBTQ+ YOUTH, FRIENDS, AND FAMILIES TO MEET STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS, ENJOY REFRESHMENTS AND LEARN ABOUT THE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES OFFERED AT THE ATTIC. 3) ATTIC YOUTH AND STAFF PARTICIPATED IN THE 3RD ANNUAL PHILADELPHIA PRIDE MARCH AND FESTIVAL IN JUNE 2024. YOUTH TOOK THE STAGE DURING THE MARCH AS COMMUNITY SPEAKERS. 4) CONTINUED TO PARTNER WITH MAZZONI CENTER, ON THEIR 5-YEAR CDC GRANT TO EXPAND STI AND HIV PREVENTION, TESTING, AND TREATMENT TO YOUNG MSM OF COLOR. 5) HIRED NEW THERAPISTS, CASE MANAGERS, AND LIFE SKILLS STAFF, FURTHER BUILDING THE AGENCY'S CAPACITY. 6) A NEW YOUTH LEADERSHIP COUNCIL WAS FORMED AND MET ON A BIWEEKLY BASIS AT THE ATTIC. YLC HELPS YOUTH DEVELOP LEADERSHIP SKILLS, DISSEMINATE OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH SOCIAL NETWORKS, ELEVATE THEIR VOICES, AND INCREASE THEIR ENGAGEMENT IN THE COMMUNITY. 7) PROVIDED 25 TRANSGENDER AND GENDER DIVERSE YOUTH WITH EMERGENCY FUNDS FOR HOUSING, HEALTHCARE, AND OTHER VITAL SUPPORTS THROUGH THE TRANS YOUTH RESILIENCE FUND. 8) THE ATTIC'S BRYSON INSITUTE CONTINUED TO WORK WITH PHILADELPHIA SCHOOL DISTRICT, SCHOOLS, AND OTHER YOUTH-SERVING ORGANIZATIONS TO INCREASE BEST PRACTICES IN SERVING LGBTQ YOUTH. YOUTH OUTCOMES IN 2024, THE ATTIC PROVIDED YOUTH WITH THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS AND SERVICES: 1) CONNECTED OVER 400 LGBTQ YOUTH TO THE ATTIC'S FULL CONTINUUM OF PROGRAMMING, WHICH INCLUDES COUNSELING, LIFE SKILLS, CASE MANAGEMENT, YOUTH LEADERSHIP, ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT, CAREER DEVELOPMENT, PERFORMING AND CREATING ARTS, AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES. 2) OFFERED OVER 300 EDUCATIONAL AND THERAPEUTIC GROUP SESSIONS INCLUDING IDENTITY, HEALTH AND RELATIONSHIPS, ARTS, AND SOCIAL JUSTICE TOPICS. 3) PROVIDED CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES FOR 75 PARTICIPANTS INCLUDING DEVELOPING RISK REDUCTION PLANS, ENCOURAGING CONDOM USE AND FREQUENT TESTING, AND CONNECTING YOUTH TO RESOURCES SUCH AS MEDICAL/MENTAL HEALTHCARE, HOUSING REFERRALS & SUPPORT, AND LEGAL SERVICES. 4) PROVIDED 75 INITIAL CONSULTATIONS AND ONGOING WEEKLY INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING SESSSIONS TO 166 YOUTH, THEIR FAMILIES, AND PARTNERS. OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR, APPROXIMATELY 1,700 COUNSELING SESSIONS. 5) INCLUDED ATTIC YOUTH IN THE INTERVIEW PROCESS FOR ALL ATTIC EMPLOYMENT FINALISTS. 6) VOTED 2 MEMBERS OF THE YOUTH LEADERSHIP COUNCIL ONTO THE ATTIC'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS. 7) THE ATTIC'S BRYSON INSTITUTE TRAINED OVER 900 PARTICIPANTS THROUGH TRAININGS ON BEST PRACTICES FOR MEETING THE NEEDS OF LGBTQ YOUTH DURING FY 2024. PROGRAMMING OUTCOME MEASURES THE ATTIC CONSISTENTLY EVALUATES ITS PROGRAMMING TO ENSURE THAT EACH YOUTH WHO PARTICIPATES IN ATTIC SERVICES CAN THRIVE IN AN AFFIRMING ENVIRONMENT. THE ATTIC HAS FOUND THAT CONSISTENT PARTICIPATION IN ATTIC PROGRAMMING LEADS YOUTH TO: 1) INCREASED SELF-ESTEEM AND COMMITMENT TO SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. 2) INCREASED KNOWLEDGE AND USE OF HEALTHY COPING BEHAVIORS AND LIFE SKILLS. 3) INCREASED SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL COMPETENCIES (E.G., INTERPERSONAL SKILLS, ADAPTABILITY, TEAMWORK). 4) INCREASED LEADERSHIP SKILLS (E.G., PUBLIC SPEAKING, GROUP FACILITATION, ADVOCACY). 5) IMPROVED LITERACY, STUDY SKILLS, AND ACADEMIC COMPETENCIES. 6) IMPROVED JOB ACQUISITION SKILLS AND LONGER JOB RETENTION RATES. 7) IMPROVED SCHOOL ATTENDANCE.
