What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? The Western Dredging Association WEDA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting safe sustainable dredging practices that support economic development and environmental stewardship. WEDA advances engineering and facilitates communication among industry professionals government agencies consultants and stakeholders in the dredging community providing networking and educational opportunities. WEDAs primary exempt purpose is to develop and advance scientific and technical information regarding dredging including related areas of navigation marine engineering and construction. Program Service Accomplishments for 2024: 1. WEDA organized its annual Gulf Coast Conference in Destin Florida bringing together professionals researchers and stakeholders to exchange ideas and advance dredging practices. The event featured technical sessions panel discussions and networking opportunities fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing within the industry.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 WEDAs regional chapters such as the Gulf Coast Chapter host annual meetings that offer technical presentations panel discussions networking opportunities and an exhibition hall showcasing the latest in dredging technology and services. The Gulf Coast Chapters 2024 meeting drew over 200 registered participants including students from relevant college programs and benefited hundreds more unattended professionals and students. These meetings aim to enhance industry knowledge support workforce development and encourage innovation in dredging practices. In addition facilitate localized knowledge sharing and address specific regional challenges promoting best practices and collaboration within the dredging community.
