The First Five Action Fund (FFAF) was founded in 2020 to advocate for high-quality early childhood education in America. FFAF's mission is to ensure all children from birth through age five have equal access to affordable, comprehensive, high-quality care and education to support their healthy development and help them achieve their full potential in school and life. FFAF plans to expand federal support for all early learning and care opportunities for children from birth through age five, focused first on serving those children most-at-risk.

Return Reference Explanation
Part X, Line 2: FFAF is exempt from income tax under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) section 501(c)(4), though it is subject to tax on income unrelated to its exempt purpose, unless that income is otherwise excluded by the IRC. FFAF has processes presently in place to ensure the maintenance of its tax-exempt status, to identify and report unrelated income, to determine its filing and tax obligations in jurisdictions for which it has nexus, and to identify and evaluate other matters that may be considered tax positions. FFAF did not have taxable income and did not pay taxes during 2024 and 2023. The accounting standard on accounting for uncertainty in income taxes provides guidance for how uncertain tax positions should be recognized, measured, disclosed and presented in the financial statements. This requires the evaluation of tax positions taken or expected to be taken in the course of preparing tax returns to determine whether the tax positions are more likely than not of being sustained when challenged or when examined by the applicable tax authority. Tax positions not deemed to meet the more likely than not threshold would be recorded as a tax benefit or expense and liability in the current year. Management has determined there are no material uncertain income tax positions for the years ended June 30, 2024 and June 30, 2023.
