Explanation:

Independent Staff Union's 23-24 990 is being filed late due to a change in the leadership of the organization and a new volunteer Treasurer taking over. The new volunteer Treasurer was not immediately aware of the 990 deadlines and therefore the 23-24 990 deadline passed without filing. Procedures have been put into place to ensure this does not happen again, including educating the board on the current 990 deadlines and hiring a new accounting firm to ensure each 990 and extension (if needed) is filed on time going forward. Normal business care and prudence have been followed. Therefore, the organization is requesting full abatement of any late filing penalties & fees.
