Summary of Direct Charitable Activities
List the foundation’s four largest direct charitable activities during the tax year. Include relevant statistical information such as the number of organizations and other beneficiaries served, conferences convened, research papers produced, etc. Expenses
1 Empty the Shelters BPF facilitates pet adoptions by organizing and funding Empty the Shelters through national and regional events. Empty the Shelters gives adopters the ability to take home a spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped pet for a reduced fee at hundreds of shelters throughout the country. More than 97,740 dogs and cats were adopted through these events in 2024. 3,511,412
2 Donor Designated BPF supports specific projects and initiatives outside of regular programming to amplify our ability to save lives. 535,847
3 Fix the Future BPF addresses the lack of access to spay/neuter for both shelters and pet owners through Fix the Future. BPF pays contracted veterinarians directly and connects them with approved Host Organizations (animal shelters, designated spay/neuter facilities, etc.) in regions where spay/neuter is needed. This program not only prepares shelter pets for adoption but also provides crucial services to community-owned pets through clinics. In 2024, more than 98,650 pets were "fixed" through this program. 3,288,521
4 Crisis & Disaster - BPF's Animal Incident Management (AIM) team responds when pets' lives are at stake through pre-event planning, post-event recovery, animal search and rescue, shelter support, transport and mass care/humanitarian efforts. In 2024, AIM responded to 45 crises and natural disasters, saving countless pets who would not have had a chance without us. 560,876
