The American Legion Auxiliary Colorado Girls State program is one of the nations most respected experiential learning opportunities. Guided by the principle For God and Country this program reflects the ALA mission to honor those who have secured our freedom while preparing young women to be future leaders grounded in patriotism and Americanism. The programs objectives are to deepen participants understanding of American government freedoms and traditions; to inspire young women from all backgrounds to engage in civic life; and to cultivate a lasting appreciation for the democratic process and those who defend it. ALA Colorado Girls State fosters confidence leadership and lifelong friendships. The program is fully funded by the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Colorado and is held over one week at a college or university within the state.

The American Legion Auxiliary proudly supports facilities within the Veterans Health Administration system including VA Medical Centers and Community Living Centers across Colorado. These centers provide vital high-quality healthcare services to veterans-ranging from surgery and diagnostics to primary care and rehabilitation. Many of our veterans face financial hardship or homelessness and these facilities offer essential care support and rehabilitation resources for them and their families. The ALA contributes to this mission through monetary and in-kind donations as well as volunteer service. Members dedicate countless hours assisting at front desks serving as Red Coat Ambassadors and supporting patient and visitor needs. In addition the American Legion Auxiliary supports the Fisher House in Aurora Colorado. The Fisher House provides a home away from home for veterans and their families while a loved one receives medical care at the VA hospital or an approved facility. This program honors the sacrifices of our service members and strives to meet humanitarian needs beyond those provided by the VA.

The American Legion Auxiliary Emergency Fund AEF provides temporary financial assistance to eligible Auxiliary members facing unexpected hardships. Funded through generous donations the AEF helps members recover from natural disasters financial crises or other emergencies allowing them to regain stability and continue supporting the mission of service to veterans military and their families. Donations are sent to the Department and Department forwards to the National Organization.

The Child Wellbeing Foundation CWF focuses on supporting programs that enhance the physical emotional and social well-being of children. Through grants and donations the foundation helps provide essential resources education and opportunities that empower children to thrive in safe and nurturing environments. Our members submit donations to support the fundraising efforts of the Sons of the American Legion Detachment of Colorado.

Part VI, Line 6 The American Legion Auxiliary is a 501c19 membership-driven volunteer-based entity whose mission is to support the American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve. We are dedicated to enhancing the lives of our veterans military members and their families both at home and abroad.
Part VI, Line 7a The American Legion Auxiliary elects officers once each year at the Department Convention. The membership elects the President President-Elect Vice President Chaplain Historian and Sergeant-at-Arms. The President appoints the Parliamentarian and the Secretary Treasurer with both appointments confirmed by the membership during the convention.
Part VI, Line 7b The American Legion Auxiliary Executive Committee reviews and approves any changes recommended by the Constitution and Bylaws Committee before presenting them to the general membership for a final vote at the end-of-year conference. The Executive Committee also approves any budget modifications submitted by the Finance Committee.
Part VI, Line 11a The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Colorado maintains a website alacolorado.org where we provide full financial disclosure including access to our filed Form 990.
Part VI, Line 15 The American Legion Auxiliary Human Resources Committee obtains performance reviews from four different officers or committee chairs which are then provided to the employee for consideration during the annual employment contract review.
Part VI, Line 19 The American Legion Auxiliary provides information to both members and the public through our website alacolorado.org. In addition we distribute a weekly members-only newsletter in which financial statements and the Form 990 are also published for review.
